Book 1

Ruby, Book 1coverRuby de Burgh is the first born of the four daughters of Earl Blackpool. They were all named after the stones in daggers, bought by their late mother regarding a superstition. Ruby acts more like the son her father always wanted, and nothing like a lady. And she is not pleased to find out her father has promised Lord Sheffield his choice of one of his daughter’s hands in marriage.

Lord Nyle of Sheffield needs a wife so he can carry on his secret mission for the king. However, after losing three wives in a matter of months, he is sure their deaths were not accidents as it seemed, but rather they were murdered. Now to catch the murderer that he believes to be inside his castle walls, he chooses a wife as bait who he knows can wield a sword and hold her own against any attacker.

Will murder and mayhem place a wedge between an unconventional wife and the Lord of Death, or bring them closer together as emotions are brought to the surface in Ruby – Book 1 of Daughters of the Dagger?

Book 2

Sapphire book 2 coverSapphire is one of four sisters named after the gems in daggers bought by their late mother in regards to a superstition. She has been betrothed to Lord Roe Sexton, a man she’s never met. But when she goes to Rye to meet him, she’s told he’s dead, and she’s married off to the evil baron instead. So she sneaks out in disguise not only to get away from her abusive husband but to find the meaning of true love, stopping at a nearby tavern in the process.

Lord Roe Sexton returns from war overseas after being away for over a year. Victorious and celebrating their success, he stops with the soldiers at a tavern looking for a drink and a woman for the night. The one he chooses seems to be trying to tell him she’s a lady, but he doesn’t believe her since she’s dressed like a harlot.

A mistaken identity turns into a night of passion that neither of them will ever forget. But when Roe returns to his castle the next day to find his lover there and also married, things get very complicated. And when he exposes a ring of smugglers, Sapphire’s life is endangered and one wrong move could bring about disastrous results for both of them.

Can a woman who was thrown into an abusive marriage with a man she despises, find love and passion with the man she was truly meant to marry? Or will greed and deceit keep them apart? Emotions and intrigue are taken to the limit in the second book of the Daughters of the Dagger Series – Sapphire.

I have read other books by this author that I thought were better written than this one. Although it was not a totally disappointing read, I do think it could have been better.
In this reader/reviewer’s opinion it had a decidedly child-like fairytale feel to it.
I prefer a more adult themed reads.
It is well written in spite of it’s nature so I gave this title 3.5 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book in addition to purchasing both the eBook and the Audible copy.
This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I have read and reviewed voluntarily.

 Book 4

Amethyst coverAmethyst de Burgh has been sent by the archbishop as assistant to her uncle, the master mason in building a castle for the border lord, Marcus Montclair. She has always dreamed of this opportunity, but knows a woman in this position would not be accepted if it wasn’t for the sealed and stamped missive giving the order, sent by the Archbishop himself.

Marcus is not pleased when a woman shows up saying she is the new assistant to his master mason. And when his father arrives with a missive from the king, things only get worse. Now he’s expected to marry the girl when she challenges his every word.

With his castle unfinished and his defenses low, he knows it won’t be long before the Scots come over the border and they are attacked. But facing the enemy isn’t half as challenging as dealing with his new wife.

A hardened border lord and a headstrong woman are forced to work together to change their ways. And in the process they learn that things are not always as they seem . . . in Amethyst, Book 4, the last book of the Daughters of the Dagger Series.
