Twelve gifts of Christmas coverSometimes love shows up when you least expect it…

Lady Philomena Wallace, Countess of Lipscomb, is not a woman in the first blush of youth. As a widow, she has seen her share of loss. She is perfectly content with her life as it is. Or, at least that’s what she thought. As the Christmas Season approaches, she begins to receive anonymous gifts from a secret admirer. He claims that he will reveal his identity on Christmas Day. But what begins as a rather intriguing prospect suddenly turns complicated when a man from her past abruptly resurfaces…

And turns out to be the best decision you ever make.

On a busy London street, Julian Solomon encounters Mena, the village girl he met long ago. At the time, she had been pledged to another, but even so he knew her family would never approve his suit as a poor commoner, so he leaves for America determined to make a better life for himself. Twenty years later he returns to England, intent on charming the woman he’d never truly forgotten. But as life has taught him not everything works out as you plan, and sometimes you need a little Christmas spirit to finally achieve what you’ve always wanted.

My Thoughts:

Yuletide Happily Ever AftersI Read and Reviewed this novella originally as part of the Anthology;

Yuletide Happily Ever Afters: A Merry Little Set of Regency Romances

Twelve Gifts by Christmas by Tabetha Waite

When Lady Philomena Wallace, the Countess of Lipscomb, receives a gift from a secret admirer, she imagines it’s a lark. It isn’t until a stranger from her past abruptly returns that she has to make a choice between a mysterious suitor – and a second chance at love.
This is a lovely second chance Christmas romance with a more mature couple.
I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars. I received a complimentary copy of the anthology that this novella was part of. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Marianne Roland is a widow who has left behind her past including memories of an intemperate husband and the hardships of the American civil war. Now she enjoys the comforts her wealthy Uncle Killian bestows on all his family. As she watches others fall in love, she decides to find an amusing lover for herself, but only for one enchanting night.

Andre Claude Marceau, Duc de Remy and Prince d’Aumale, finds Marianne’s joie de vivre enchanting—and her plan for a temporary affair with him impossible.

He offers her one night in his arms, and to his delight, she craves another. But he needs more from her than a few hours of bliss. When he shows her how to fill her days with passions that complement those they enjoy together at night, Marianne must choose.

Will she insist on a passing fancy? Or will she abandon the terrors of her past to embrace a brighter future beside a man who offers her a grand love affair with life?

Those Notorious Americans, a family headed by a scandalous robber baron, ready to charm all of Europe with their wit, their good looks…and their fortune.

Money can buy anything. Can’t it? When American robber baron Killian Hanniford decides to expand his business empire, he sails to Europe in 1877 and takes his family with him.
His two daughters—Lily and Ada—are beauties, accomplished and educated. They want for nothing, except a chance to find husbands who love them for themselves, not their dowries.
His niece, Marianne, is a charming widow who wants for nothing…except perhaps an amusing and temporary lover.
Killian’s son, Pierce, is young, impetuous and too ruthless for any young woman to take on as a husband.
Even Killian himself—without a wife for many years but increasingly bored by his mistress—is shocked to learn he can fall in love.
Tragic, isn’t it, to learn that money can buy anything… but love?
