Synopsis:
Take one scientific swain, one dashing lieutenant, one no-nonsense librarian, one adventurous young lady, one very large tomcat, and two mischievous kittens…and what do you have? Two recipes for disaster! Or perhaps for love…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kisses and Catnip, by Grace BurrowesMax Haddonfield is a man of science, devoted to logic and rational observation. That he also finds homes in libraries for stray cats is merely a sensible exercise in controlling the mouse population…or something.
Antonia Mainwaring is practical to a fault and all but on the shelf. When a certain soft-spoken library patron talks her into allowing a large male feline to bide on the premises, somebody starts purring—and it’s not the cat!
My Thoughts:
There is nothing better in my opinion than the story of a bookish miss and a third son who is making his way in the world while rescuing both orphans and cats from sure starvation and maybe worse.
The cats and the orphan make this story in this reader’s opinion.
I gave this special romantic novella 4.75 of 5.0 stars. The passion is brief but a turning point in this story.
Synopsis:
Lieutenant Mayhew’s Catastrophes, by Emily Larkin
When Lieutenant Mayhew boards the stagecoach bound for Southampton he anticipates an uneventful journey. True, he’s carrying kittens, but it’s only eighty miles. What could possibly go wrong?
He’s not expecting to meet the enchanting Miss Willemina Culpepper. Nor is he expecting the kittens to be quite so good at vanishing. Mayhew has faced many challenges in his career as a soldier. Traveling from London to Southampton should not be a challenge. Except that it is.
My Thoughts:
Lietenant Mayhew’s Catastrophe seemed just that… An utter disaster in the making with one after the other catastrophes raising their ugly heads.
How can these two divine love from this unfortunate beginning.
The lady’s turn in circumstances and fortune is an integral part in this tale.
I gave this tale 4.0 of 5.0 stars.
I received a complimentary copy of this book to read.
This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although I liked both of these stories. Grace Burrowes Catnip and Kisses was my favorite of the two.

MY NEW RELEASE REVIEW of
HELL’S WEDDING BELLS
Part of The Once Upon a Christmas Wedding Anthology
by Annabelle Anders
My Thoughts:
I received an ARC of this title which is only one of the books in this 27 best-selling international author collection.
Lady Lila Breton is about to be wed to a man she has never met before. Will he be old and decrepit or the man of her dreams?Vincent St. Pierre is that groom. He must marry Lila in order to wipe clean a debt to her father that the previous Duke, his deceased brother owed. Not only did he leave the Dukedom destitute upon his suicidal death, he left Vincent with an unwanted bride also.
Lila is not at all what Vincent expected. Not only is she a beauty but quite intelligent and more than willing to help him with the accounts which are in disarray.What Lila finds is a surprise to them both. Not only did Vincent’s brother not take his own life, he was murdered. The person at the top of Lila’s list of suspects is someone she fears but she doesn’t dare tell Vincent as it may endanger his life also.
I gave this tale 4.25 of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization.
I read this novella twice. As the release day nears I wish I could read more of this collection. You can be certain that I will be on the lookout for the release.
MY NEW RELEASE REVIEW of
Mischief and Mistletoe
Part of The Once Upon a Christmas Wedding Anthology
by Stacy Reid
Synopsis:
Callisto Middleton desires to see her mother married to the Earl of Deerwood and, unknown to the couple, plans to help their romance along! Deerwood’s son Graham, Viscount Sherbrooke, intends to stop the mischief but finds himself irresistibly drawn to the scheming minx. Once in close quarters, mistletoe enflames the situation and passion ignite.
My Thoughts:
I received an ARC of Stacy Reid’s contribution to this lengthy anthology in addition to Hell’s Wedding Bells from Annabelle Anders.
Who could imagine that mother and daughter would be attracted to father and son?
This tale happens to be my favorite so far but I have only completed two of these twenty seven stories and started reading another. This anthology may last me into the new year.
I gave this tale 4.5 of 5.0 stars. This one was a bit more steamy than Annabelle Anders contribution.
Both novellas are very good reads though and now that the collection has released and I have bought it I will be wading my way through this extensive collection.
