SYNOPSIS:

Alone For The Holidays coverSnow is falling hard near the picturesque town of Woodstock, Vermont, with its scrumptious bakeries, brightly lit storefronts, and twelve-foot Main Street Christmas tree. Romance is in the air for everybody except spicy Russian Clara Neverov, recently divorced, bitter, and alone for the holidays.

As an acclaimed romance author, she revels in her solitary life relying only on Internet book groups for her socialization under a fake American name pulled from childhood memory and her best friend’s supermodel photo.

Giving up on Christmas after too many of them alone, she adores the solitary life free from Scrooges and messy entanglements. When a mysterious editor from a Goodreads book group shares a sad story about being alone for the holidays after his wife passes away, she accidentally invites him to spend them with her.

The only problem is that her snowy country cottage is nowhere close to the magical Santa’s wonderland that she described when attempting to cheer him up. In fact, it closely resembles the underground Grinch’s lair on an anti-Christmas campaign..

The situation goes from bad to worse when Finn Jacobs drops an email that he’s on his way to spend Christmas with her. He doesn’t mention an arrival date and he believes her to be a trim blonde bookshop clerk instead of her real identity as an overweight author with unruly espresso hair and black eyes. With some festive holiday intervention, icy roads slam her truck right into his car, where she quickly finds herself scrambling for another false identity.

There is one thing that is for sure, that spending Christmas alone is no longer an option. Lose yourself in this sweet and short romantic holiday tale of hope, second chances, and forgiveness during the most magical time of the year.

Please note that this is a mini novelette; longer than a short story and shorter than a novella.

BONUS MATERIAL: Delicious tried-and-true, decadent, and indulgent family holiday recipes as seen in the book. Treat yourself to a cheesy chicken crunch-top casserole, dreamy peppermint dark chocolate mochas, a white chocolate peppermint cake, a melt-in-your-mouth pot roast, buttercream frosted cutout cookies, and many more.

The perfect Christmas short story novelette ideal for sweet romance fans of authors like Debbie Macomber, Nora Roberts, Brenda Novak, Holly Martin, Tilly Tenant, and Jenny Hale.

In the mood for more Christmas? Hop on over to Vivien Mayfair’s Snowdrop Valley Series of full novels that take place in an adorable little book town where literature saves the day and happy endings abound.

MY THOUGHTS:

Grinch TeaserRomance is in the air for everybody except spicy Russian Clara Neverov, recently divorced, bitter, and alone for the holidays.

Giving up on Christmas after too many of them alone, she adores the solitary life free from Scrooges and messy entanglements.

When a mysterious editor from a Goodreads book group she cares about shares a sad story about being alone for the holidays after his wife passes away, she accidentally invites him to spend them with her. There is at least one drawback. Clara doesn’t at all resemble the photo of her friend that she posted on her Goodreads profile.

The other problem is that her snowy country cottage is nowhere close to the magical Santa’s wonderland that she described. In fact, it more closely resembles the Grinch’s lair on a bad day.

Rushing around to make it closer to what she described she slides down the road and right into her prospective guest.

This delightful holiday short read makes you wish for the best for Clara and her online friend but things may not be what they seem.

I read this story twice and loved it more the second time around.

I gave this sweet and humorous romance 4.25 of 5.0 stars.

SYNOPSIS:

My Christmas Darling CoverA SNOWDROP VALLEY BEGINNING…

Escape to snow-blanketed Manhattan in December where chestnuts roast on street vendors carts, visitors ice skate under the stars, and storefronts brim with twinkle lights. Let Christmas warm you all year round in this sweet, wholesome, holiday romance.

Christmas has come to New York, but it doesn’t feel very festive for Lucy Carpenter. Single, disgruntled in love from past hurts, she disappears into the world of books as a manuscript reader for a mid-level publishing company on the East Side. Plagued with guilt for a mistake that took her mom’s eyesight, Lucy dreams of achieving financial success despite growing medical bills and unpaid rent. Her only hope of survival is to publish her little Christmas novel despite repeat rejections by big publishers. When her boss requests her publishing recommendations for the month, Lucy submits her manuscript under a false identity against strict company guidelines in what becomes the great holiday literary hoax of Manhattan where lies spin out of control and stockings are filled with coal instead of chocolates.

Known as the ice fish of Big Apple Books, William Harcourt longs for acceptance from a nitpicky father who rules the publishing industry with an iron fist. When a sweet Christmas manuscript about a father and daughter in a fictional book town crosses his desk, he believes it to be the ticket that will bring his company into the Top Five and finally gain him his father’s love. What he didn’t expect was to fall in love over email with an enchanting mystery author whose book thawed his wounded heart and opened his eyes to the true meaning of self-acceptance and self-love. My Christmas Darling is a heartwarming holiday romance to remind us why we love Christmas. This adorable love story draws you in fireside and proves how the spirt of the season goes beyond pretty wrapped packages under a tree.

Cozy up with a crochet blanket and a cup of peppermint hot cocoa and absorb into a festive world where books reign and true-love wishes come true. Ideal reading for fans of sweet and clean contemporary romance authors such as Debbie Macomber, Sheila Roberts, Holly Martin, Tilly Tennant, and Debbie Mason. A sweet Christmas romance for all.

SYNOPSIS:

Lady Jane CoverJane Cavanagh possesses the most scandalous reputation in London. With an ample allowance from her father, she’s able to live a lifestyle of autonomy. She answers to no one regarding her choices in life. For entertainment, she engages male companionship, enjoying multiple trysts without an ounce of guilt. After a few months with a man, she moves to the next, leaving scattered victims of broken hearts strewn across the social landscape. Her motto is no love, no babies, and no marriage.

When someone from her past returns into her life, Jane is sent into a tizzy of emotions she would rather not face. In a shattering display of spilled champagne, she comes face-to-face with Colonel Matthew Rutland, a decorated war hero and widower. If it wasn’t for him, she might have turned out to be a different woman altogether. After a few painful interactions, it becomes obvious they both have unfinished business that needs resolving. Jane, however, isn’t keen on settling anything with the man who cruelly discarded her to pursue a military career.

This was my first time reading a book by this author.

I found this book to be engaging in the beginning but it bogged down. I wished for more background about the couple but it just never was explained to my satisfaction. The read and the story just didn’t seem to have the flow to it that I hoped for.

I gave it a rating of 4 of 5 stars. I was hoping in the beginning for a more complete story line but it just never happened.
