Enjoy three amazing stories from the bestselling series, Taming the Duke’s Heart.

Taming a Rake into a Lord

Christopher Masters is a first class rake. Having retired as a spy, he thinks he may spend the next year or two gambling and drinking as a way to forget the horrors of his past. Quite suddenly, he is thrown into a new role entirely when he inherits the title and properties of the Earl of Winthrop. He has no desire for such a role but even more distressing is the ward that accompanies the estate.

Lady Elizabeth knows that her future is uncertain. But when a handsome new earl arrives and announces that the will requires her to marry within the year, all hope is lost. Having cared for her father these past months, she is less than a wallflower. At least those ladies attended the ball. But if she doesn’t marry, a new Earl might take Chris’ place, Bernard Sinclair. She can’t explain it, but his attention frightens her more than she can express.

As Chris attempts to help Lizzie find a suitable husband, his attraction for her cannot be denied. Will his past cripple his future or can Lizzie tame the rake into a lord?

Taming a Savage Gentleman

Tom Maddox would never marry. He’s the second son, the spare, and he prides himself on living his life without the confines of society.

Baroness Segrave needs a husband for society’s sake but she’d prefer he have no opinion at all. Which is why the Earl of Loudoun seems the ideal choice. With no fortune and a drinking habit, he should allow her to keep running her estate while living off the allowance she’d give him. But Loudoun proves to be both drunk and foolish. Suddenly a husband who is strong, capable, and appreciative of her gifts gains merit in her eyes. A man like Tom Maddox.

But how can she convince Tom that he should consider marriage and give up his carefree bachelorhood? Because no matter what anyone else believes, she’d rather the love of a gentleman than a lord.

Taming a Rogue Earl

Lord Lucius Loudoun is capable of success in only two endeavors… work and women. Bedding them, anyway. He’s given up trying to accomplish anymore. So why is he even tempted by an innocent like Miss May Stanley?

May has loved Loudoun since she was a child, but he looks straight through her, still treating her like she’s a girl of thirteen instead of a woman of twenty. How will she ever convince him to give her a chance?

As the two tangle, attraction ignites, but can that spark become a flame?

The Earl of Sussex by Tammy Andresen
Wickedly sinful, the Earl of Sussex, is an unrepentant rake. The Wicked Earls’ Club is the perfect place for a man of his station to indulge. That is until his parents force a match that threatens to rob him of his freedom. Unwilling to be tamed, he travels to meet his bride and demand she put a stop to this farce. Except Lady Tabitha is nothing he expected, and everything he never knew he wanted. Too bad this fiery wallflower is equally bent on ending their engagement.

Earl of Westcliff by Meara Platt
When Tynan Brayden, the Earl of Westcliff, rescues Abigail Croft from ruffians one dark night outside the Wicked Earls’ Club, he never expects his carefree life to be upended by this girl with big, brandy-colored eyes and a stubborn determination to save her reckless brother. He doesn’t know why he feels the possessive need to help her. Perhaps it is because she doesn’t ask for his help or seem to want anything from him. But this Wicked Earl wants more from her… nothing less than her heart.

Earl of Wainthrope by Collette Cameron
Pierce, the Earl of Wainthorpe didn’t gamble on losing his heart when he won Bianca Salisbury at the gaming tables, but the shameful secret Bianca guards makes it impossible to love a rogue.

Earl of Sunderland by Aubrey Wynne

He inherits the title of rake… She hides behind her independence… Fate
accepts the challenge…
Escaping his late brother’s memory, Lady Grace is a welcome
distraction for Christopher Roker. But as the attraction grows, Kit
wavers between his old military life and the lure of an exceptional
but unwilling woman.

My Thoughts:

This is a sweet regency title with the underlying background of an abusive father and a rake of a husband who would not hurt any woman.
Now we get to the meat of this story after the rakehell husband dies and his title is to go to the next in line, a twin brother who really never wanted the title.
Christopher (Kit) returns from war to take the title he never wanted but was the one ultimately suited to. He is a man who wants no part of marriage and with the revelation from his sister in law that she is expecting he may only have the title until she produces a male heir. The title will still be his, however if the baby is a girl.
Grace is the cousin of the deceased Earl’s wife and had met the new Earl briefly when his twin had married her cousin. There was a bit of attraction between the two at that time over a year earlier.
Will their attraction grow to something more?
I enjoyed this sweet and sad tale. It is the first time I have read anything by this author.
The addition of a five year old little brother to Grace, a very precocious young man, really helped this storyline along. He is maybe the highlight of the story and a definite wonderfully wrought character. I immediately fell in love with this little boy.
I gave this book 4.25 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 2.5 of 5.0 flames. The only intimacy involved is a couple of kisses making this a sweet regency romance.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book via NetGalley to read and review.
This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Earl of Weston by Anna St. Claire

Edward Hunter, confirmed bachelor, returns from an assignment with the Crown to find his brother killed and himself the new Earl of Weston—a position he never wanted. Hattie Longbottom is an aging, sheltered spinster who suddenly finds herself forced to leave her home with her beloved parrot, Archie, and travel to her brother’s home. Can a reluctant earl revenge his brother’s murder and save a spinster in the process?

Earl of Davenport by Maggie Dallen

The Devil of Davenport is in need of a bride. Everyone knows the wicked earl is looking to wed, but only his childhood friend Anne knows his secret. Despite what society believes, he’s not a devil—not really. Not at all. Of course, he’s no saint either. He’s all man. And while Anne’s less scandalous sister might be the logical choice for a wife, she’s not the one who makes his pulse race. To win his angel, this earl may just have to live up to his devilish title.

Earl of Grayson by Amanda Mariel

Charlotte is a true lady and Damien a determined rake. When their paths cross they have every reason to turn in the opposite direction, and yet they cannot seem to avoid one another. Passions flare, putting them both at risk. They stand not only to lose their reputations, but more importantly, their hearts.

earl of benton

Earl of Benton by Madeline Martin

HIS ACTIONS COULD BE TREASON…
Alistair Johnstone’s days of running whisky come to an abrupt halt when he inherits an earldom. After years of living in Scotland and denying his English heritage, he now must return despite his mother’s bitter contempt and his own lack of desire. When his mother’s attempt to run whisky goes awry, Alistair is forced to step in and save her by doing one last whisky run – however, if he’s caught, he will face a traitor’s death.

Earl of Pembroke by Lauren Smith

Gillian Beaumont is no lady, as the bastard daughter of an earl and working as a lady’s maid, the last thing she needs is to fall in love with an earl. But when the sweetly seductive Earl of Pembroke mistakes her for her mistress, he falls head over heels for her in this upstairs-downstairs romance.

My Thoughts:

This is the second book I have read in this Multi-Author series.
I love Lauren Smith’s books, especially the Historical Romance and Dragon Shifter Romance.
This book is part of The Wicked earl’s Club and crosses over to be part of Lauren’s series The League of Rogues.
James is an Earl and when he and his sister meet Gillian in a book shop he is immediately drawn to this lovely young woman.
Although Gillian is a daughter of an Earl she is illegitimate. Her mother was the Earl’s mistress after the death of his wife.
Sparks fly between this unlikely Hero and Heroine, but will their obvious attraction lead to marriage?
In the Regency Era that probably wouldn’t happen, but this is fiction so maybe it can.
I gave this novella 4.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 3.75 of 5.0 flames. Although our hero treats Gillian like a lady passion finally wins out.

Earl of St. Seville by Christina McKnight

After the untimely death of her bareknuckle boxing mother from injuries sustained in the ring, Lady Patience Lane thinks she’ll never return to that world. Until she meets the devilishly tempting Sinclair Chambers, the Earl of St. Seville. If he’s going to get the prize purse and save his people from starvation, he needs training before his next match. Together, Sin and Patience will fight not just to win the prize purse, but for the love of a lifetime.

My Thoughts:

This is the third book I have read in this multi-author series. There are a total of 12 with only three more that have not yet released.

So far this one is the cleanest/sweetest one I have read.

Lady Patience name is deceiving. She is by no means patient with members of the ton who ignore her edicts and wishes to keep others from suffering like her mother did.

Sinclair Chambers, Earl of St. Seville came to London with one thought in mind… To earn enough money boxing to save his estate and his people.

Patience’s father brings him home after finding him being beaten and calls for a doctor to tend his injuries.

Hearing noises that wake her Patience thinks her brothers have returned home but instead finds a half dressed man she doesn’t know occupying her brother’s bedchamber. rather than identify himself he climbs from the second story window to disappear into the night.

After this inauspicious beginning our couple become enamored with one another however they take no steps toward intimacy. Instead Patience takes over the training of Sin so he is more proficient at boxing.
Instead of a hot romp in the sheets this book includes a story of lies by omission and feelings of betrayal.

Will our couple get past the untruths or will Sinclair’s lies lead to the end between the couple?

I gave this novella 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 1 of 5 flames. No intimacy ever develops between our couple.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read and review. I also received a link to an ARC at Bookfunnel from the author.
This in no way affected my opinion of this novella which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Synopsis:

A TWIST OF FATE…

Miss Katherina Elliott leads a simple life, teaching impoverished children, just as her parents did before her. Kate knows little of her family’s past: only that every three months, a mysterious benefactor sends her enough money to pay the school’s mounting bills. The envelope is brought by the solicitor across the street—a man Kate knows she shouldn’t want but can’t resist.

Lord Joshua Stuart, the second son of the Duke of Beaufort, has never fit in with the rest of his family. Though he has a practice on Bond Street, he’s always preferred working in Cheapside, where he can make a real difference. It has nothing to do with his attractive, sweet neighbor across the street, or so he tells himself. But when Kate’s school is threatened, Joshua knows he must help her.

As Joshua and Kate work to save the school, they grow closer, until their love for each other can no longer be denied. Their search brings them to the famed fortune teller, Madame Zeta, who holds the key to Kate’s past. But when Kate’s fate intertwines with Madame Zeta’s, nothing will ever be the same. Will her love for Joshua survive fortune’s twists, or will they end up as the final folly?

My Thoughts:

This is the 10th and final book in this multi-author series. I have read only the prequel and this one book but I do own a couple more from the series.

Although each book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone I feel you would like them much more read in order of publication.

There is a little bit of mystery that is hinted at in the beginning of the book.

We, unlike our heroine, know that her past is a lofty one even though she was brought up as a vicar’s daughter. The danger starts when the father she never knew decides that her death is the only way he will get what he feels is rightly his. Will he succeed in his quest to kill her and who is Madame Zeta to Katherina?

The answer to this last question is actually answered in the prologue but unless you are reading carefully you may miss this tidbit.

I gave this book 4.25 of 5.0 stars for story line, plot and characterization.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
