MY PRE-RELEASE REVIEW of
Coming May 28, 2019
book #3 of the Imperfect Lords series
hitting the shelves.
Unable to read or write, an earl discovers love in the last place he expects to find it—within the embrace of a brilliant woman—in this sexy, irresistible novel from USA Today bestselling author Bronwen Evans.
What’s an earl to do?
The Earl of Argyle has died suddenly, leaving his brother Guy Neville at a complete loss. The dull-witted second son, as his father used to call him, Guy is now responsible for the estate and his brother’s seat in the House of Lords. Shamed by an inability to read or write, his distress is multiplied by the sudden appearance of Miss Abigail Pinehurst, a dyed-in-the-wool bluestocking. She wishes to use the Argyle library and to study a rare plant on the estate. Guy’s first instinct is to decline her request—until he catches a glimpse of her.
How’s a girl to behave?
Abigail cares for only one thing: plants. She is unconcerned about how she looks, what she wears, or the impression she makes on men. An orphan who turned to books for solace in a miserly, cruel institution, she now makes her living illustrating the greenery she adores. Lord Argyle, in fact, with his uncanny memory and chiseled features, is the first man to capture her attention—a ridiculous distraction since he is so far above her station. But her unreasonable heart has a mind of its own.
I enjoyed this latest book by Bronwen Evans.
This book seems to be a different take on a well known learning disability in our day.
The characters were well drawn and heartfelt. Dyslexia was most likely the cause of the Earl’s inability to learn to read or write.
Although his problem was seen as dull-wittedness in his day it isn’t today.
I read this book very quickly in two sittings and would most likely have finished it quicker if not for my work schedule.
I gave this read 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Q: Can Beatrice find love with the man who killed her brother in a duel?
A: Never underestimate Sebastian Hawkestone, Marquis of Coldhurst…
In the second novel in USA Today bestselling author Bronwen Evans’s sexy Disgraced Lords series, two very independent souls find themselves fighting to resist a deepening passion.
When Beatrice Hennessey sets out to confront Lord Coldhurst, the notorious rogue who killed her brother in a duel, her intent is to save her family from destitution. She’s determined to blackmail the man into a loveless marriage. She’ll make the wealthy Lord Coldhurst pay for the rest of his life. But while greeting his ship, Beatrice takes a tumble into the Thames—only to be fished out by a pair of strong masculine arms that tempt her to stay locked in their heated embrace forever. That is, until she realizes those arms belong to Sebastian Hawkestone, Lord Coldhurst himself.
The little drowned mermaid has an interesting proposition indeed; one that Sebastian is surprised to find quite agreeable. Although he’s had women more beautiful, she is pleasing to the eye, and besides, it’s time he fathered an heir. Beatrice promises to be the ideal wife; a woman who hates him with an all-consuming passion is far too sensible to expect romance. However, it isn’t long before Sebastian’s plan for a marriage of convenience unravels, and he’s caught up in the exhilarating undertow of seduction.
