Publisher’s Description:

2-No Ordinary Duke

He’s everything she’s trying to avoid…But somehow precisely what she needs…

Caleb Crawford doesn’t want to be a duke. He’d much rather build houses for a living. So when fate disrupts his peaceful life and burdens him with the responsibilities of a newly inherited title, he does what any sensible man would do by fleeing London, disguising himself as a laborer, and seeking refuge with three young spinsters who need his help with a leaky roof.

Ruined by a marquess who promised her the world, Mary Clemens has sworn to avoid marriage forever. Instead, she intends to live out her days with her friends and the orphaned children they’ve taken into their care. But when Mr. Crawford comes knocking, Mary finds herself in real danger of risking heartbreak all over again. Especially when she discovers that he’s not at all what he seems.

My Thoughts:

I have read several of Sophie Barnes historical romance titles and have yet to be disappointed.
Caleb left his home after an argument with his father but intends to return to shove his success in the face of the old Duke.
Now he has returned to find he has inherited a title he never wanted. Both his father and his older brother have perished in a tragic accident leaving him to be the heir. Being a much sought after architect is what he wants and what he has done well after he left home.
To escape this life he never wanted he agrees to go to the home of a friend’s sister to help repair her home that she shares with others.

When Caleb meets Mary sparks fly. He is living a lie and doesn’t know how to tell her the truth about who he is. Will their attraction progress to love?

This is a fast paced, well written novel and one that you just can’t put down.

I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization.
The characters, especially the young ones are unforgettable and an essential part to the plot. An extended epilogue helps to round out the whole story.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read and I reviewed it on a voluntary basis. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which was given freely.

A Code of Heart by Jacki Delecki
Miss Amelia Bonnington has been in love with Michael Harcourt since she was nine years old… or so she thought until a not-so proper impassioned and unyielding kiss from the not-so honorable and equally disreputable Mr. Derrick Brinsley, gave her reason to question the feelings of the heart.
Derrick Brinsley, brother to the Earl of Falconbridge, shunned from society for running off with his brother’s fiancée, hasn’t cared about or questioned his lack of acceptance until meeting the beguiling Amelia Bonnington. One passionate moment with the fiery Miss Bonnington has him more than willing to play by society’s rules to possess the breathtaking, red-haired woman.
On clandestine assignment to prevent the French from stealing the British Navy’s secret weapon, Derrick must fight to protect British secrets from falling into the hands of French spies, but also the chance at love with the only woman capable of redeeming him.

The Disappearance of Lady Edith by Christina McKnight
One tragic night changed sensible, proper Lady Edith Pelton’s life: when her best friend fell to her death, pushed down a flight of stairs by a nefarious lord. Now, Edith dedicates her time to watching the man she thinks is responsible, while gathering information to expose other scoundrels posing as gentlemen of honor about London. When her spying is noticed by a perfect stranger, Edith finds herself with two mysteries—what happened to her friend, and how to win the heart of this brilliantly handsome lord.

Scandalous Endeavors by Amanda Mariel
The Duke of Goldstone is devilishly handsome, and has a nasty habit of showing up at all the wrong moments and thwarting Amelia’s carefully laid plans to ensnare a suitable husband. Sparks fly as the pair find themselves at odds with each other and drawn to each other at the same time. Can they find a way to stop arguing long enough to explore their growing passion?

Her Impetuous Rakehell by Aileen Fish
Laurence Pierce never wanted a wife or children. He preferred his freedom and his bachelor’s rooms in London. Then his cousin Lord Oakhurst dies, making Laurence guardian of a three-year-old girl. He knows nothing about children, and even less about girls. In desperation, he turns to the only lady friend he’s never seduced and begs for help.
Lady Hannah Lumley knows Laurence for exactly what he is, since he’s been her brother’s closest friend for as long as she can remember. He’s the last man she could imagine as a father, and the very last man her brother would consider letting her marry. Yet one little kiss leaves her unable to think of anything but the new Baron Oakhurst. Now her Season has taken a twist she never expected. How can the nice young lords and gentlemen in London ever compare to this impetuous rakehell?

Infinitely My Marquess by Dawn Brower
The Marquess of Cinderbury and Lady Annalise Palmer are two lost souls in search of salvation. Together they can help each other heal, if they can believe in love, and in each other long enough to escape the torment they’ve both suffered; as well as, uncover an unimaginable devotion.

The Rakehell’s Seduction by Lauren Smith

My Review at Goodreads : February 6, 2017

Publisher’s Description:

Ambrose Worthing is no gentleman. He’s a proud cold-hearted rake who’s determined to stay a bachelor forever. He enjoys bedding a different woman every night without the risk of falling in love. When he hears about a wager over the seduction and ruination of the daughter of his father’s best friend, he knows he must intervene. Committing himself to the bet, he agrees to seduce Lady Alexandra Rockford—for her own good. He never expected the lady in question to be a beautiful, fiery creature who has passions of her own that call to his guarded heart.

Alexandra Rockford has sworn off men, her heart still broken from the false promises of a childhood sweetheart who left her to marry an heiress. When she stumbles into Ambrose outside of a country ball, she knows the rake is trouble. His smile, his touch, his forbidden kiss are all too tempting but being with him would ruin her. Determined to enjoy herself without falling in love, Alex can’t help but let her defenses down with the too charming rake. But when she discovers Ambrose is seducing her to win a bet, it will take everything Ambrose has to prove to her that he is worthy to love her.

My Thoughts:

This is another pleasingly mild erotic historical romance by one of my favorite authors.
Her characters and the storyline are well developed and kept this readers attention. It is a fast paced read which can be finished quickly.
I am enamored with Laurens Historical titles.
I gave this mildly erotic tale 4.25 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and 3 of 5 flames for heat
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read and review.
This in no way affected my opinion of this book.

Lady Harper by Jillian Eaton
High-spirited, independent, and rebellious, Lady Harper has no intention of finding a husband. And why should she, when every man she’s ever met has bored her to tears? That is, every man except for one…
The Duke of Greenwood may be many things – arrogant, rakish, and a cad, to name a few – but boring he isn’t. After a chance encounter with Harper leaves him entranced, he vows to make her his wife…The only problem? She can’t stand the sight of him.
