The Protector

Cassandra Thomas is the youngest born daughter in a line of powerful woman, destined to have a great gift. Just as she is giving up hope on ever receiving her powers, a mark appears on her hip and her purpose looms on the horizon. But she is not the only one seeking the stone to protect Scotland, as a mysterious dark-haired man is as determined to get at it, one who is strong, sinfully handsome and arouses many wicked longings.

The Undefeated

Sir Fergus the Undefeated is desperate to save his son. In order to do so, he must bring the Heart of Scotland to the King, as well as its Protector. But no amount of training could prepare Fergus for the woman he is up against or the passion she reawakens within him.

The Choice

Cassandra and Fergus work together in hopes to succeed in protecting Scotland and reuniting Fergus with his son.  But when the power of the stone beckons, will their love be strong enough to banish the evil or will betrayal tear them apart?

A lady who will defend her family and her castle…
Lady Marin Barrington, eldest of the Earl of Werrick’s five daughters, is a born protector. Not only has she taken on the role of mistress of the castle and caregiver to her sisters upon their mother’s death, she also acts in her father’s stead while he is serving the king abroad. Dedicated and resolute, failure is never an option for her.  So, when a reiver forces his way into the castle, Marin won’t surrender easily and takes it upon herself to kill the usurper. Except plans go awry when passions are awoken and matters get complicated.

A man who must succeed no matter the cost…
Bran Douglas’s sister is going to be hanged, unless he agrees to take Werrick Castle. Ever a pawn in a rich man’s game, Bran has no choice but to force his way into Werrick on behalf of the Scottish Middle March Warden. He quickly discovers getting into the castle is the easy part. Dealing with its mistress, however, will take every ounce of cunning and determination he can muster, especially when she turns his blood to fire.

A promise that changes it all…
In a game where desperation and love dictate the lives of many, a simple promise can change the tide of favor and open the door to pleasure and danger alike.

A Recap of My Review of

Enchantment of a Highlander

Heart of the Highlands Book 3

by Madeline Martin

Available in E-Book For $3.99 at:

Love is the most potent of remedies.

The sweeping historical romance that began with DECEPTION OF A HIGHLANDER, and continued with POSSESSION OF A HIGHLANDER, reaches its dazzling conclusion in this scorcher set on the Scottish plains.

Alec MacLean returns home after a decade to find his recently deceased father has let his inheritance fall to ruin. As the new laird, it’s Alec’s responsibility to rebuild the castle and restore the lands. He must also regain the people’s trust after having abandoned them so long ago, a feat not easily done when he fears he’s plagued with the same darkness as his father.

Celia escaped the North Berwick witch trials at a young age, surviving because of the sacrifice of her beloved caretaker. She’s made a life for herself in the wilds of Scotland where no laird rules, a life where she heals for coin, a life without love so she can never feel the hurt of loss again.

When the new laird comes back to claim his land, his determination to restore order threatens everything Celia has worked so hard to gain, especially with the undeniable attraction sizzling between them. Together, they will face all challenges, from the tangle of their own damaged pasts to the fire-fueled witch hunts sweeping the Isle of Mull. Together, they will find that the best way to overcome darkness and war is through the undeniable light of love.

My Thoughts:

Relatively New Author Hits it “OUT OF THE PARK” again!

Reviewed: January 25, 2016

I started reading Madeline Martin’s books when she published her Debut Novel, Deception of a Highlander last July. I have loved all 3 of the books in this series. They are typically a little longer than I would expect but very well written. This one was 41 chapters + an epilogue. Because of the sheer number of chapters it seemed longer than the 300 approximate pages listed, but looking back the chapters themselves were not overly long.
Her characters are as usual very well developed. The story looks as though it will end on a tragic note but doesn’t.
I would advise reading all 3 books in the order published even though they all are very good as a standalone.
I would give this book 4.25 stars.
I received a digital ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
