Synopsis:

Lord Seth Templeton has no desire for life to change. He enjoyed every minute of his bachelor existence. Anyway, his older brother, the Marquis of Eastbrook, partakes in enough seriousness for one family. His reputation as a rake has never caused him any problems…until now.

Now, he must find a wife. And quickly.

According to the terms of the inheritance, he must be engaged within two months or forfeit his grandfather’s money—money that would save his family. Finding a wife would be easy enough for a man like Seth but he’s certainly not ready to settle down. Surely there must be a way out of this situation…?

In search of a solution, Seth finds himself in the depths of a place in which he never thought he’d set foot…

A library.

He also finds himself spending time with the clever Miss Prudence Hartley. The woman is a whizz with books and the law, and is thus, extremely useful to Seth. He needs her—for her strangely vast brain only of course.

After all, what does it matter if he likes the way she pouts as she reads a book or furrows her brow in concentration? He’s a rake. And nothing will change that

My Thoughts:

He also finds himself spending time with the clever Miss Prudence Hartley. He likes the way she pouts as she reads a book or furrows her brow in concentration.
The facts of his inheritance are to be kept secret but Seth finds he must tell Prudence in order to secure her help.
These two are a mismatched pair that no one would expect to be attracted to each other.
What’s a respectable widow to do when she finds herself overwhelmed by a rake?
I thought book one was good but found this one to be even better than book #1.
It is amazing how well matched this rake is to this scholarly lady.

I gave this second in the series novella 4.8 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization. The intimacy in this one is a necessary element and makes the story.

Synopsis:

A troubled widow and a dashing war hero clash in an irresistible regency romance from the author of Amazon bestseller Fairchild.

There are worse things than being spectacularly jilted. Losing a leg, for instance, or getting shot. Well, perhaps not—the bullet Alistair took fighting in the peninsula never landed him in London’s scandal sheets.
But when your luck is out, you do foolish things, like quarrel with your oldest friend or mistake a perfectly respectable widow for a lady of easy virtue. Unfortunately, that kind of blunder needs fixing.
Yielding to his troublesome conscience, Alistair tracks down the elusive widow . . . but the only thing he doesn’t find is an easy way out.

She’s determined to make a difference…

Raised to believe the world is open to her, Lady Phoebe Winters reads periodicals and newspapers with growing upset. Everything within her world is shaped by a man’s point of view. Why must women stand idly by, being told what to do and how to do it? It seems to be accepted within their society — until she decides to do something about. Using her inheritance, she begins a small publication, written by women, for women. It’s a risk, but one for which she is willing to sacrifice.

He’s intent on stopping her…

Jeffrey Worthington, the Marquess of Berkley, has held a position of responsibility since the death of his father at a young age. He is a man who enjoys the constancy of life. Despite the fact that his four sisters and younger brother are forever demanding his time and attention, his maintains order and control of all other aspects of life.

As they grow closer, secrets become harder to keep…

The Women’s Weekly begins to cause a stir among women of the nobility, and the peerage determines it must be shut down before it causes consequences from which they could never recover. Jeffrey is tasked with finding the perpetrator and halting production of the publication. He reluctantly agrees, despite the fact that it will detract from his attempt to court the lovely Lady Phoebe, and causes growing controversy between the two of them. When he finally determines the publication’s owner, what will he put first — love or duty?
