Synopsis:
As the third son of the Duke of Fordham, Alex never thought he’d become a duke. But he’s suddenly catapulted to the lofty title after his slightly older brother dies in his sleep. Now Alex has the onerous task of announcing the death to the woman his brother was to wed.
Ever pragmatic, Lady Georgiana Fenton insists on seeing the late duke’s body, and when she does, she’s convinced he was smothered as he slept. She and the new duke decide to secretly work together to uncover the murderer. But the longer they’re together, the harder it becomes to resist the duke’s scorching kisses–and even harder to dismiss him from the list of suspects. No one had more to gain by her fiancé’s death.
My Thoughts:
To me this is maybe the best of the series. The other two were just OK and didn’t appeal to me enough to hold my attention.
This one did and was much more enjoyable than books one and two.
Still I have read better works by this author. As a whole I found this series disappointing.
I have this last book of the series 4.4 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a low sensual rating.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Publisher’s Description:
For the past decade Harry, the Earl of Wycliff, has worked feverishly to reclaim all that his father had lost. Only one item remains elusive: the Gainsborough portrait of his beloved mother. And the impossibly young, stunningly beautiful widow Louisa Phillips holds the key to finding it. If only he can persuade her to help him . .
My Thoughts:
I love Cheryl Bolen’s writing style. This book, however was a bit of an exception. I liked the book with it’s danger and mystery but could not love it. It took me longer than usual to wade my way through it. I was excited to start reading and breezed through the first few chapters then found myself bogged down.
I did eventually finish reading it but had to force my way through the middle chapters. The ending chapters are once again as exciting as the beginning.
I gave this book 3.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 2.5 of 5.0 flames. The sensuality is mild and almost non existent in this mysterious sort of story.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read and review.
This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
