Frances Snowden can hardly believe her good fortune when she’s whisked away from her boring life by her sister who is now a duchess. Instead of becoming the third wife of her parents’ stuffy neighbor, she can be anything she wants: a doting aunt to her newborn niece, a debutante in London, or even an independent spinster. But when she meets and kisses a mysterious man on a walk in the countryside, she knows exactly what she desires—him.

David Langley, Earl of St. Ives, is resigned to marrying the dull woman his parents chose when he was a child. His future is suddenly, and happily, diverted when he encounters a captivating young woman who shows him everything he’s been missing. Ready to embark on a blissful life together, a long-buried feud between their families makes their marriage impossible. Nothing is more important than duty and family, but can he turn his back on love?

My Thoughts:

I love this series. These books have all been enjoyable and this is one of the best to date.

Frances meets David at the end of Ivy’s story and that meeting is featured at the beginning of her book. They part each thinking the other a servant and a steward. They discover on their second encounter months later that is not the case.

How will this story proceed after each one discovers the truth of the other’s identity?

This book is filled with love, promises forsaken, and danger. This very well written newest installment in Darcy Burke’s Untouchables series like it’s predecessors is not to be missed. This book is a bit of chocolate for the soul which I devoured in short order.

I gave this book 4.95 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development. There are a few unanswered facts that were left hanging so that is the reason it doesn’t get a five star rating from me. This sensually intimate story has just enough heat to entice.

I am looking forward to Book #12 and beyond.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the author to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Publisher’s Description:

The Duke of Danger - BK 6After killing his opponent in a duel, Lionel Maitland, Marquess of Axbridge, is known as the Duke of Danger. Tortured by guilt, he shields himself with a devil-may-care attitude. However, when he kills another man in another duel, he’s beyond redemption, even though it wasn’t his fault. He refuses to smear a dead man’s name, especially when he’s left behind a blameless widow who doesn’t deserve an even bigger scandal.

Widowed and destitute, Lady Emmaline Townsend must marry the man of her parents’ choosing or beg unsympathetic relatives for support. The only way out is to ask for help from the one man she’s sworn to hate, the man who owes her anything she asks, the man who killed her husband. They strike a devil’s bargain in which passion simmers just beneath the surface. But her dead husband’s transgressions come back to haunt them and threaten their chance at love.

My Thoughts:

Just when I think Darcy Burke can’t possibly write a better book she more than exceeds my expectations.
This entire series has been remarkable, but Lionel’s and Emmaline’s story has been the best yet. This somewhat sad tale has just enough of several different elements to make it a keeper on any historical romance reader’s shelf.
It is a poignant tale that is filled with enough heated intimacy to set fire to the sheets in the reader’s imagination. I literally could not put it down. I came close to being late for work trying to find a stopping point.
This untouchables book #6 is not to be missed.
I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 5 of 5 flames. The intimate scenes are scorching!
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this title to read from the author and her publicist. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Daphne Foliot has always known she’ll be married off to a man who, like her, descended from one of King Arthur’s fabled knights. That doesn’t mean she wants to be, even if it is her beloved father’s wish. Raised without a mother, she owes everything to the man who encouraged and funded her education and supports her dream of becoming the first female member of the Order of the Round Table. But when she suspects her chosen husband is a traitor to the Order, she plans to expose his treachery, regardless of their extraordinary mutual attraction.

Heir to the thirteen treasures of Britain, Gideon Kersey vows to do anything to protect his family’s legacy from a secret society bent on exploiting the items for personal gain, including marry a woman he doesn’t love. Except she ignites a passion he was certain died with his first wife, and when the truth behind the Order’s objectives threatens everything Daphne knows, Gideon must fight to save her—and any future they hope to share.
