Lady Charity is the last of her friends to marry, and this summer, she finds Bath lonely.
When Lady Charity Abernathy meets Lord Neville Wentwell, she thinks he is a rogue and a scoundrel who has ruined more than one Lady. She wants nothing but to give him the cut.
Lord Neville Wentwell thinks Lady Charity is outrageous; a woman on the prowl for a husband, and he will have none of it. He has been hurt before… He will not play by her rules, or the ton’s.
But when Lady Charity needs his help, Neville understands and rallies and Charity wonders if she had made a mistake that she cannot repair.
Can love flourish amidst the problems of Neville’s PTSD suffering brother and her Alzheimer’s ridden father? Add in two future mother’s-in-law who would make Napoleon seem like a sweetheart and their happily ever after seems absolutely impossible. But of course, nothing is impossible to a woman like Charity.
Once Charity has seen the man behind Neville’s devil may care exterior, nothing can keep her from having him, not war nor disease, not even her mother or his!

The Gentlemen of Regency Romance Series are characters in the same universe, but the books themselves can be read as stand alones: front to back or in any which order.

My Thoughts:

Lady Charity is the last of her friends to remain unmarried. Now she finds Bath a lonely place to be under the circumstances.
Lord Neville Wentwell thinks Lady Charity is outrageous; a woman on the prowl for a husband, and he wants no part of the relentless beauty.
In spite of her looks she seems to drive potential suitors away. Will there be a different outcome for Charity and Neville? Will her mistaken impressions of Neville be the end of what could be between them?
This is a well thought out story with some flaws in editing but an enjoyable story still. I haven’t read any others from this series and it could maybe be a better read had I read others.
I gave this book 4.2 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development. The nature of this story is a sweet regency with only overtones of something more sensual. It therefore gets a very mild sensual rating of 2 of 5 flames.
I received a borrowed digital copy of this book via KindleUnlimited and an unedited ARC through Hidden Gems. I found very little differences between the unedited and the final versions of this book.

This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

About Isabella Thorne:

Isabella Thorne is an author of Regency and Georgian Romance. The first grown-up books she read were historical, authored by Georgette Heyer, Victoria Holt and Anna Seton. Unfortunately, for her own daughters, the beauty and hallmark of Regency Romance, witty dialogue and the manners of the time, have been overshadowed by explicit books instead of true Regency Romance. Regency Romance includes a more formal language, longer sentences and ballrooms instead of bedrooms.

With a return to romance, Isabella Thorne hopes you will enjoy her light fun books. You can share them with your daughters with the guarantee that although there is romance aplenty, and a bit of sexual tension and a kiss, there is nothing explicit in her books. They are clean and wholesome reads with lots of humor and upbeat “fun poking” at the English mannerisms of the time.

She had bewitched the most serious, snobbish, and handsome Duke in England. 2940158772092_p0_v1_s600x595

Joyous MacQuarrie…the pixie-like, green-eyed beauty had appeared from nowhere and fell unashamedly into his arms. And all that his society friends knew of the mysterious lady was that she was Scottish and that her grandmother had been a Locksley. Even her fine bloodline didn’t make Joy quite proper enough to be a Duchess, but a proud nobleman like Alec, Duke of Belmore, did as he pleased…and he wanted to marry the beautiful girl who aroused his desire.

But Alec soon discovered he could not do what he pleased with Joy Fiona MacQuarrie. Bubbling with laughter, filled with spirit, she turned stately Belmore Park upside down with merriment and strange occurrences. She might even have gotten Alec to laugh — and to cherish her — if it had not been for the truth she hid. Though he turned to fire when he tasted her petal-soft lips, he turned to ice when he discovered that this winsome lady was, in fact, a witch, a witch whose powers of white magic were not always perfectly under control.

Too late, Joy knew she was desperately in love and that nothing could stop the course of their destiny — the scandal threatening to destroy her and the passion that held them both spellbound in a forbidden, irresistible match of two enchanted hearts.

The persistant suitor coverJuliana Labrook, second daughter of the Earl of Anscom, is no one’s idea of a proper lady. She’s ramshackle, always says what she thinks and prefers riding and fishing over sewing and social graces.
Grayson Lyall, Marquis of Carraway, is Society’s ideal of a perfect gentleman. He’s handsome, wealthy and considered a war hero by everyone but himself.
A gentleman, that is, until he sets eyes on the intriguingly different Lady Juliana, emotionally jilted and humiliated and under pressure to change everything about herself.
For her, he is quite willing to play the hero to a reluctant damsel in distress. But nothing is ever easy with Lady Juliana. It will take persistence.

The Twelfth Night Bride cover

Christmas is a time for miracles, or so Kate Fenster, the youngest of the Fenster siblings, hopes when she heads to Ireland to confront her absentee bridegroom.

The Earl of Blarney had called in her childhood promise to marry him. It had been a lighthearted bargain, she would marry him if he let her ride his prized stallion Diablo. Charmed but not quite trusting the silver-tongued Irish lord, Kate sets him to prove he is more interested in her heart than her dowry.

The courtship takes a dark turn when, just hours after their wedding, her bridegroom is called home to Ireland and refuses to return to her in England or allow her to come to him in Ireland. Kate, tired of waiting, must travel to another country to face her husband — and the fact that everything he had told her was only half-true. Now it is her turn to prove herself to him. To prove that she is the right wife for him. The one who will stand by his side while he rebuilds his lands, regains the trust of his people, and keeps his mad, fey sister safe.

Abandoned at Christmas by her new groom,

Kate Fenster has waited long enough for the silver-tongued

Irish lord to return and explain.

Now, she’s going to him for answers.
