Synopsis:
Virginia Whitebridge is trapped in a loveless, abusive marriage. The law says her husband can have whatever he wants from her—so he’s taken her inheritance. And he tried to kill her. After a close escape, Virginia feels protected for the first time in forever, thanks to the Scottish Highlands and the Highlander Magnus Sinclair. But she must go back to England, regardless of the danger, to reclaim what’s hers. Even if it means leaving her heart in Scotland.
It’s just Magnus’s luck that he’s fallen for a woman he can’t have. Virginia is rich and titled… and English. To keep her safe, he must follow her to the one place he loathes—England. Where the bowing, preening London Society has a secret language of manners unknown to him. Where he is too large, too uncivilized, too everything.
Despite omens that death awaits him there, Magnus vows to help Virginia go to London and restore her fortune. Get in. Get out. Or die trying.
Each book in The Highlanders of Balforss series is STANDALONE:
- Tying the Scot
- Betting the Scot
- Forgetting the Scot
My Thoughts:
This is the third book in this series that are written as standalones but do have things in common. You would not be lost if you read them in any order or choose to read only one.
Virginia is in a loveless and abusive marriage. Her father sold her to this man for a title and her husband only wants her for her money.
Deciding that having her killed is the best road to his own happiness her husband hires a supposed assassin who has his own agenda and sells her to slavers who intend her for a brothel or a harem.
She is in the company of other women intended for the same.
Rescued from their fate by the Highlander Magnus Sinclair.Scotland is not where she needs or wants to be but it is a dangerous road back to England and does she really want to leave her heart behind in the Highlands?
I have read this entire series and although they are each standalone titles they do have characters in common that tie them together.
I gave this book 4.4 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization.and a mild sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames. This story stands on it’s own without need for heated scenes.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Synopsis:
There isn’t anybody Jeff Kowalek wouldn’t help. Except himself. After a series of disastrous dates, he has retreated to the comfort of his living room and the companionship of his dog, Trixie. When the new tenant moves in next door, Jeff is immediately smitten. From afar, he wonders if a pretty girl like Holly Fulbright would ever be interested in a teddy bear of guy like him. But soon a health scare forces him out of his comfort zone and hopefully, into the realm of possibilities with his new neighbor.
The last thing Holly Fulbright is interested in is Christmas or any kind of romance. After her fiancée pulled a disappearing act, she’s lost her home and is now working two jobs to pay down the massive debt he left behind. Christmas is a bleak prospect for her. But her new landlord with his warm brown eyes and quirky sense of humor test her vow to never trust a man again.
Will this Christmas be the one to change everything for Jeff and Holly?

Synopsis:
Brooke Bailey might be thirty-one years old but she still believes in Santa Claus. And since she won’t be going home for her favorite holiday this year, she’s determined to include the residents of her small apartment house in her celebration—even those who aren’t fans of the jolly red-suited guy or reindeer games.
For Dr. Duncan Cox, Christmas is nothing but a commercial disaster filled with disappointment and bad decisions; he sees both in Mercy Hospital’s ER more than ever as the big day draws near. On top of that, this year he finds himself tasked with secretly filling Brooke’s stocking with twelve gifts to help out a friend.
Can Dr. Grinch’s gifts give Miss Merry Christmas the very thing her celebration is missing? And can seeing Brooke’s joy at receiving the anonymous gifts thaw Duncan’s cold heart?
