About the Book:
London society is cruel for a young woman whose father is an avid gambler. Miss Grace Ashton is not one to stand idly by while her family becomes destitute. Donning a mask, she slips into the night and attends the infamous Raven Club to confront the proprietor. But nothing prepares her for the sinfully attractive and wealthy Ian Swift.
This isn’t the best book I have read by this author but it’s not bad either. The story felt a little rushed but maybe there was a word limit that was imposed.
I felt it lacked depth of characters and storyline but it isn’t unreadable, a good story but not a great one.
There were parts of this tale that I enjoyed very much but other parts that made me ask why?
The strange interaction between Ian and Grace left me baffled at times. Why wouldn’t he just tell her why his father hated him so much?
I gave this book 3.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3.75 of 5.0 flames.
Although the bride had told her sudden groom prior to their wedding night there would be no intimacy between them she jumped right into bed with him anyway.
A head scratcher to be sure…
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book via NetGalley from the publisher to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
