Publisher’s Description:

An Unlucky Lady:

Lady Beatrix Westport was once destined to be the most successful debutant the ton has ever seen. Now, it is all she can do to recover from the brutal coaching accident which killed her entire family. Now, she has only one purpose. Continue her family line and secure her father’s earldom. When she meets Captain Duke, who awakens her heart and desires, she knows he’s the best choice for husband. But will her dedication to her duty destroy her only chance at love?

A Wild Duke:

Captain Adam Duke loves adventure and justice. After spending his entire life working to free slaves, he comes to London to open offices. When he meets the wounded Lady Beatrix, he immediately feels a deep connection to her and longs to free her from her pain. But he refuses to be just the stud she longs for. Can he convince her to choose a life of love and adventure or will her broken past drive them apart?

My Thoughts:

I have read other books by this author, but this has to rank right up there as one of her best. This book is engrossing and a page turner from Chapter One. If you’re in the mood for a heart wrenching tear jerker, this is one that will capture your heart too.

Beatrix not only lost her family but was also crippled in the tragic accident that changed her life and how she thought of her future.

Captain Adam Duke is thought of by most as a scoundrel and most likely a pirate. Even though this is not true it is how he is perceived by the ton. He is an American after all and aren’t they all animals; at least that is how he is thought of by his brother’s relations by marriage.

Beatrix is immediately drawn to his wild nature. The first time she sees him racing his horse through the park she can’t take her eyes off him.

Will Beatrix and Adam be able to get past the objections of their kin and find an everlasting love?

This is most definitely one for the keeper shelf. Although it is book number eight of the series it can easily be read as a stand alone title.

I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3.5 of 5.0 flames. This is more a story of developing love than a physically intimate one.

I received complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR, Eva Devon, was raised on literary fiction, but quite accidentally and thankfully, she was introduced to romance one Christmas by Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory novella, The Present. A romance addict was born. She devoured every single Lindsey novel within a few months and moved on to contemporary and paranormal with gusto. Now, she loves to write her own roguish dukes, alpha males and the heroines who tame them. She loves to hear from her readers. So please pen her a note!

When Gisela Anne Balewyne comes face to face with handsome knight Dominic de Terre, she fears her dangerous secrets have caught up with her. The small town of Clovebury seemed the perfect place to hide from her abusive husband, raise her young son, and earn a living as a tailor while she saved to move north and start a new life. Seeing Dominic–the lord she loved and then lost when he went on crusade–renews her desire for him, but she can never be with him again, and not just because she’s a commoner and he’s a nobleman.
