NEVER SEND A DEBUTANTE
William Ryder, Earl of Castleton, is at the end of his noble rope. Not only has he broken ties with his longtime mistress, his mother has publicly announced her wish for him to marry a suitable young lady—if only to help him raise the twins left in his care. Hiring a governess should solve some of Will’s problems…but when he meets the candidate in question, he finds himself in an entirely new predicament.
TO DO A WALLFLOWER’S JOB
Miss Margaret Lacey is brainy, beautiful, and, once upon a time, Will’s betrothed. But she bowed out of the engagement—and, since then, has never been the same. A tragic accident robbed her of everything, and now, at age twenty-three, her marital prospects are slim to none. Penniless but not without pride, Meg convinces the vexingly handsome Will to hire her for the job. What neither of them could have expected from this arrangement, however, is an attraction that burns stronger than ever. Are these two lost souls finally ready to be schooled in the art of love?

I really enjoyed this tale of a vicar’s daughter and an Earl. Seems they had a mutual past and she was very surprised to be meeting him again under very different circumstances.
The characters were well developed and the twin six year old girls were delightful.
The story premise is a good one. I could not put it down even though I found myself needing to do so, still reading on into the wee hours of the morning.
This story gets a 4.5 of 5.0 star rating and a sensual rating of 4 of 5 flames for heat.
I would be delighted to read additional works by this author.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Anna Bennett started swiping romances from her mom’s bookshelf as a teenager and decided historicals (with their balls, dukes, and gowns) were the best. So, when she had the chance to spend a semester in London she packed her bags—and promptly fell in love with the city, its history, and its pubs. She dreamed of writing romance, but somehow ended up a software analyst instead.
Fortunately, a few years and a few careers later, Anna found her way back to writing the stories she loves and won the Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart® for Regency Historical Romance.
She lives in Maryland with her husband and three children, who try valiantly not to roll their eyes whenever she quotes Jane Austen. Her weaknesses include reality TV, cute shoes, and coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.
By the way, Anna wrote some books under the pen name Anne Barton, and you can find them on the Books page.

Loving a Lost Lord
In the first of a dazzling series, Mary Jo Putney introduces the Lost Lords—maverick childhood friends with a flair for defying convention. Each is about to discover the woman who is his perfect match—but perfection doesn’t come easily, even for the noble Duke of Ashton. . .
Battered by the sea, Adam remembers nothing of his past, his ducal rank, nor of the shipwreck that almost claimed his life. However, he’s delighted to hear that the golden-haired vision tending his wounds is his wife. Mariah’s name and face may not be familiar, but her touch, her warmth, feel deliciously right. . .
When Mariah Clarke prayed for a way to deter a bullying suitor, she didn’t imagine she’d find the answer washed ashore on a desolate beach. Convincing Adam that he is her husband is surprisingly easy. Resisting the temptation to act his wife, in every way, will prove anything but. And now a passion begun in fantasy has become dangerously real—and completely irresistible. . .
Never Less Than A Lady
New York Times bestselling author Mary Jo Putney continues her stunning Lost Lords series with this stirring, sensual story of a rebellious nobleman drawn to a lovely widow with a shocking past.
As the sole remaining heir to the Earl of Daventry, Alexander Randall knows his duty: find a wife and sire a son of his own. The perfect bride for a man in his position would be a biddable young girl of good breeding. But the woman who haunts his imagination is Julia Bancroft—a village midwife with a dark secret that thrusts her into Randall’s protection.
Nowhere Near Respectable
Mary Jo Putney’s riveting Lost Lords series unleashes a high stakes royal plot—which may prove easier for Damian Mackenzie to handle than his own unruly desire. . .
He’s a bastard and a gambler and society’s favorite reprobate. But to Lady Kiri Lawford he’s a hero—braver than the smugglers he rescues her from, more honorable than any lord she’s ever met, and far more attractive than any man has a right to be. How can she not fall in love. . .?
No Longer a Gentleman
Grey Sommers, Lord Wyndham, never met a predicament he couldn’t charm his way out of. Then a tryst with a government official’s wife during a bit of casual espionage in France condemns him to a decade in a dungeon, leaving him a shadow of his former self. Yet his greatest challenge may be the enigmatic spy sent to free his body–the only woman who might heal his soul.
Cassie Fox lost everything in the chaos of revolution, leaving only a determination to help destroy Napoleon’s empire through her perilous calling. Rescuing Grey is merely one more mission. She hadn’t counted on a man with the stark beauty of a ravaged angel, whose desperate courage and vulnerability thaw her frozen heart. But a spy and a lord are divided by an impassable gulf even if they manage to survive one last, terrifying mission. . ..
Sometimes A Rogue. . .
Even the most proper young lady yearns for adventure. But when the very well bred Miss Sarah Clarke-Townsend impulsively takes the place of her pregnant twin, it puts her own life at risk. If the kidnappers after her sister discover they’ve abducted Sarah instead, she will surely pay with her life. . .
Rob Carmichael survived his disastrous family by turning his back on his heritage and becoming a formidable Bow Street Runner with a talent for rescuing damsels in distress. But Sarah is one damsel who is equal to whatever comes. Whether racing across Ireland with her roguish rescuer or throwing herself into his arms, she challenges Rob at every turn.

Beauty is skin deep, blood runs deeper
One sister is pretty. One is plain.
Sadie Appleby is the plain one, and has never left her small village. But one night she is rudely awoken by her older and bolder sister, Ella, who has robbed her employer and is on the run.
Together the girls flee the hangman and head for London, and a new life. Seduced by the glitter and glamour of the city, the flirtatious Ella sets her sights on flamboyant man-about-town, Jay Whitgift, one of the notorious ‘Wits’ of Charles II’s court, and owner of ‘The Gilded Lily’, a beauty parlour for the wives of the London gentry.
Set in a brilliantly realised Restoration London, The Gilded Lily is a novel about beauty and desire, about the stories we tell ourselves, and about how sisterhood can be both a burden and a saving grace.
‘a fast-paced adventure peopled with ruthless villains and feisty heroines whose exploits grab the imagination and add suspense and excitement to a historical gem.” –Lancashire Evening Post

Will a Scottish beauty who can see the future, predict the doom of the Highlander she loves?
A Gifted Lass
Joanna MacConnaway’s future looks dark when her great-uncle passes, leaving Lochlann in the hands of a new leader. This handsome stranger, who has haunted Joanna’s dreams, soon finds himself in mortal danger. Joanna chooses to help him, against her misgivings and sense of impending doom. Can she trust him? And is he worthy of the feelings she soon develops for him?
A Cursed Leader
Dark and brooding Dougal Blackheath is haunted by ghosts that seem determined to take his life, and, when he moves to Lochlann Castle, the demons follow him to his new home. Though his father has decreed that he must marry a wealthy, powerful bride to serve his own ambitions, he makes the bold and brash decision to marry for love instead, and soon discovers that he has feelings for his new ward, the beautiful Joanna.
Ghosts of the Past
Joanna rescues Dougal, but the haunting carries on, and both of them, it seems, face mortal danger. When this bloodthirsty ghoul strikes against Joanna, the pair of them unite, to get to the bottom of violence that seems all too real. Otherwise, neither of the Highland pair will live to tell the tale.
Will Joanna discover the truth behind the Highland mystery that she’s inherited before it ruins her future? Or will her nightmarish vision become her everyday reality?
Can Dougal really be the doom of Lochlann Castle, or is something far more sinister — a flesh and blood culprit —behind the attacks on his life?
