Publisher’s Description:

A clan’s greatest warrior. An Englishwoman in disguise. Can their love survive her secret?

The Scot

When his brother foists an English squire upon him, Alex Kerr is completely disinterested in training the lad—until he discovers that his new recruit is not a lad at all. “Alfred” is a beautiful Englishwoman in disguise, hiding a horrible secret. Determined to uncover the truth about Clara’s past, Alex agrees to take her with him on a journey across the Scottish border into England. Passion flares between them, but as Alex gets closer and closer to discovering Clara’s secret, their future seems ever more uncertain.

The Secret

For six years, Lady Clara has lived as “Alfred”—a squire who talks little and trusts no one. But everything changes when she agrees to squire for Alex Kerr. Her feelings for him are far from those of master and apprentice. He makes her long to leave her disguise behind. . . except to do so is to risk the lives of everyone she cares about. Will her secret doom the unlikely pair before they have a chance at love?

The Scot’s Secret is the fourth book in a historical romance series set in 13th century Northumbria along the Anglo-Scottish border. If you like strong female heroines, alpha male heroes, and sizzling romance, you’ll love the fourth installment of the Border Series.

My Thoughts:

This is book # 4 (Plus a prequel novella) in this series and like the previous three novels I found the story compelling

Lady Clara has lived in disguise as a lad for six long years. Disguised as Alfred, a squire to Alex Kerr who has no interest in training the lad until he discovered this is not a lad after all.
How will this change of circumstances affect Clara’s life and that of those she loves and protects?

I gave this tale 4.25 of 5 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 3.75 of 5.0 flames. The intimacy can be and is at times very heated.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this title from the author to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Publisher’s Description:

A thief turned reluctant protector. A countess who resents but can’t resist him.

THE REIVER
Sir Geoffrey has dedicated his life to exacting revenge on the men who killed his parents and stole his birthright. The son of a baron, he has been reduced to stealing the resources he needs to reclaim his family legacy. Just when he’s on the verge of success, his uncle asks him to put his plans on hold to help protect a wealthy countess. It’s a distraction Geoffrey resents, even more so when he meets Lady Sara. The gorgeous, complicated and alluring lady is everything he’d want in a woman—and everything he can’t have.

THE COUNTESS
With her betrothed coming to claim her hand in marriage and a distant cousin intent on usurping her earldom, Lady Sara Caiser feels beset by controlling, unwanted men. As if that weren’t enough, her father’s deathbed request was for two lawless border reivers to serve as her protectors. Despite her misgivings, an undeniable attraction pulls her into Sir Geoffrey’s arms. The man she thought nothing more than a thief is more dangerous than she believed, for he’s noble, caring and sinfully attractive. As the threats against her continue to mount, Sara must decide what’s more important—her duty or her heart.

The Thief’s Countess, set in 13th century Northumbria, is the first book in a historical romance series. About The Author:

61gs669SGjL__UX250_

A medieval romance author and former English teacher with a PhD in Curriculum/Language and Literacy, Cecelia combines two of her passions, romance novels and the middle ages. She transports readers to an admittedly romanticized time of knights and castles complete with alpha male types and strong female heroines.

Influenced by authors such as Johanna Lindsey, Judith McNaught and Monica McCarty, Cecelia brings the 13th-century Anglo-Scottish border to life in the Border Series.

She lives in Northeast Pennsylvania with her husband and two young children where she can be found planning a Disney trip, watching period dramas or convincing her children to watch Star Wars or Harry Potter–again.
