Michael Devlin is a man of great learning but little means, living in one of the poorest sections of Dublin. By day, he practices law at the Four Courts and gives reading lessons to the local children. By night he’s the man in the mask, prowling the streets of The Liberties defending the people–his people–from those who would prey upon them. But when his estranged wife appears on his doorstep with a summons from Sir Arthur Wellesley, both of Michael’s worlds are turned upside down. What will happen to The Liberties if he obeys Sir Arthur’s command to meet in Cork? Can he even trust the woman who married then left him five years ago?
As a spy for Sir Arthur Wellesley, Joanna Pearson Devlin has executed this same mission flawlessly many times before: locate the subject, transport him safely, and present him to her employer. When Sir Arthur sends her out one more time to bring in her estranged husband, Joanna knows this mission will be anything except flawless. But Napoleon’s agents are everywhere, and Michael is an important part of the team Sir Arthur is assembling to stop them. MY RECENT RELEASE REVIEW of
A Highland Protector Novel
by Maeve Greyson
Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept
Publication Date: September 12, 2017
Available For Purchase at:
The Highland Protector series brings to life four mouthwatering Celtic brothers in twenty-first-century North Carolina—where the lasses are anything but tamed.
Highland warrior Alec MacDara and his brothers traveled forward in time to protect the sacred Heartstone. Their cover? Owners and operators of a theme park called Highland Life and Legends. As the chairman, Alec has been fending off requests to film at the breathtaking property. It’s only because of the charming correspondence from an enterprising production assistant that he agrees to a meeting at all. That’s when Alec meets a woman whose lush curves make him forget, for the first time, all about tenth-century Scotland.
A lowly assistant for her sister’s motion picture company, wannabe screenwriter Sadie Williams is shocked when Alec agrees to let them film at the park upon one condition: that she report to him daily. Sadie’s sister always told her that their parents only adopted her because they felt sorry for the ugly little stray. But Alec looks at Sadie like she’s the most tempting creature in the world. And with his gleaming, musclebound body stripped down to nothing but a hip-hugging kilt and boots, Alec clearly knows a little something about temptation.
Maeve Greyson has done it again! This first book in the new Highland Protector Series is not to be missed.
Sadie has grown up as an unwanted, adopted child. She was pretty much ignored by her adoptive parents and hated on sight by her parents only natural child. Her less than petite size has been a sore spot all her life. Although she is not unhappy with her curves, her family was always after her to loose weight.
Now her adoptive parents are dead and her sister holds the purse strings, so Sadie must submit to her cruelty.
Alec is the eldest son of his family that has been brought forward to the twenty first century from ancient Scotland to protect the Heartstone and the sacred weapons that surround it. They have been ensconced in a rural town in North Carolina and now run a thriving theme park based on Highland Life and legends.
Sadie’s sister wants to film there so Sadie has been corresponding by email for weeks with a person she assumes is an assistant on staff at the theme park. It is, however Alec who has been reading these emails and this correspondence with Sadie is the only reason she and her hateful sister have been allowed to speak with him about filming a movie there.
Will this inauspicious beginning lead to the love that Alec hopes for or will Sadie’s older sister be the ruin of an otherwise blooming love?
This, like most Maeve Greyson books I have read has a decidedly comical nature. It does also have a serious side that makes the reader look deeper into what society deems beautiful and acceptable.
I gave this book 5.0 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 4.75 of 5.0 flames. Our hero and heroine enjoy some inventive sexual moments and the heat is palpable.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
