” A Comical and Sensual Regency Novella.”

Publisher’s Description:

One of them might now be a viscountess but it does not clear the taint of scandal from those frightful Chadwick girls. Why we must deign to entertain them, I will never know!” Lady Bromsley, Countess of Marlbury.

A new duke moving into their sleepy village doesn’t interest Julia, especially when she hears all about his scandalous behavior in London. Rumors of gambling debts, illicit liaisons, and pub brawls surround the far-too-handsome Duke of Weston.

The far-too-handsome duke who happens to want to build a mill on her favorite nature spot, meaning Julia’s beloved otters will be homeless.

No matter what she says, the stubborn man will not back down, but this bluestocking will not give up easily. With the help of her sisters, she must find a way to persuade him to make money another way.

If only the far-too-handsome duke did not seem to enjoy riling her so much. If only he would not insist on getting under her skin and pretending to be interested in her. All this talk of liking redheads and freckles will not make her forget those animals in need.

Will it?

My Thoughts:

Julia and the Duke is a comical and sensual Regency novella that I couldn’t put down.
Julia is most certainly the most serious sister of the Chadwick girls, but that seriousness leads to some very comical moments that will have the reader laughing out loud.
I found this second book of the new series completely absorbing with a well developed storyline with memorable characters that make you yearn for more.
I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 4 of 5 flames. Although this book is not truly sexual in nature it has an underlying sensuality that is felt from the first chapter.

The addition of a sausage loving and stealing big mutt of a dog and the otters that Julia is spending time observing is sheer genius making this an unforgettable story.

“A comical, endearing short read.”

3.25 stars

Publisher’s Description:

“No eligible bachelor wants to marry a bluestocking…especially not those frightful Chadwick girls.” – Lady Jersey, Almacks Patroness.

Amelia’s writing was often prone to getting her into trouble. Hence why she eventually took on a penname. But it seems, once again, her unthinking need to spill out everything onto paper will land her in hot water.

After her sisters persuade her the only way to get over her love for Lord Nicholas Wentworth is to write about him, Amelia devotes hours and hours of ink to the subject. However, she never expects for Nicholas to end up in possession of this information. How could she admit her affection for him when she knows full well he is still in love with her now married sister?

To save herself embarrassment—and more importantly to keep her penname hidden—Amelia must find a way to intercept these letters, and if she cannot, she must persuade Nicholas it was all some awful jest and that she is certainly not A. Hardwick—purveyor of stories so scandalous that it would mean utter ruination for all the Chadwick girls should the truth come out.

My Thoughts:

I liked this story of friends to lovers.

Amelia has loved Nicholas almost all her life. Nicholas, however thought himself in love with her sister, Lavina until she instead married a Scot.
He never even dreamed that Amelia was the woman for him.

Amelia is the anonymous author of stories that are considered scandalous by the ton. She has based those stories on her dreams of herself and Nicholas and has written letters as therapy to help with her stories and to also help her get over her infatuation with Nicholas.

Will these two friends, unlikely lovers come together in the end or will he marry another?
I gave this novella a 4.25 of 5.0 star rating for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 3.0 of 5.0 flames.
There are a couple of scenes with heated kisses and one rather hot sexual encounter which is quite a lot for this short read.
I read this book free through the kindle unlimited program. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I voluntarily reviewed.

These two books have been refreshingly comical short reads that I have enjoyed immensely.

It is my hope that this series will be continued!

Redeeming the Marquess

Sweet and Clean Regency Romance

His Majesty’s Hounds Book 6

by Arietta Richmond

Publisher’s Description:

A determined Lady, a handsome, impoverished Marquess, a flock of suitors, a difficult inheritance, a deception revealed, an unexpected love.

Lady Georgiana Branley, younger daughter of Baron Tillingford, has changed since her father’s death. She has come to terms with the fact that another man now carries what was her father’s title, and has dedicated herself to learning as much about managing her estates as possible. There is just one thing stopping her from being completely happy. Her father’s will specified that, until she marries, her estates will be held in trust for her by her sister’s husband to be – the Duke of Rotherhithe. Georgiana has no interest in marrying some society fop. She just wants to manage her estates. But the Duke promised her father that he would see her make a good match – and he intends to make that happen. At the House party which is held before the Duke and Cordelia’s wedding, all Georgiana wants to do is leave – until she meets the Marquess of Dartworth – who is unlike any other man of the ton that she has met.

Oliver Kentworthy, Marquess of Dartworth, inherited a title, run down estates, and a large collection of debt. Returning from a few years of living in the Americas, Oliver sees the ton with new eyes – and is not impressed. He is only at the Duke’s house party because of a promise the Duke made to his father. The members of the ton make their disapproval of the almost paupered young peer very unpleasantly obvious – the only thing that makes Oliver want to stay is Lady Georgiana…

Can Lady Georgiana get her way, and choose the path of her own life? Can Oliver overcome the terrible heritage he has been left, and be accepted by society? Will these two, who feel out of place amongst the ton, find happiness together, or will others’ prejudice drive them apart.
