“A comical, endearing short read.”
“No eligible bachelor wants to marry a bluestocking…especially not those frightful Chadwick girls.” – Lady Jersey, Almacks Patroness.
Amelia’s writing was often prone to getting her into trouble. Hence why she eventually took on a penname. But it seems, once again, her unthinking need to spill out everything onto paper will land her in hot water.
After her sisters persuade her the only way to get over her love for Lord Nicholas Wentworth is to write about him, Amelia devotes hours and hours of ink to the subject. However, she never expects for Nicholas to end up in possession of this information. How could she admit her affection for him when she knows full well he is still in love with her now married sister?
To save herself embarrassment—and more importantly to keep her penname hidden—Amelia must find a way to intercept these letters, and if she cannot, she must persuade Nicholas it was all some awful jest and that she is certainly not A. Hardwick—purveyor of stories so scandalous that it would mean utter ruination for all the Chadwick girls should the truth come out.
I liked this story of friends to lovers.
Amelia has loved Nicholas almost all her life. Nicholas, however thought himself in love with her sister, Lavina until she instead married a Scot.
He never even dreamed that Amelia was the woman for him.
Amelia is the anonymous author of stories that are considered scandalous by the ton. She has based those stories on her dreams of herself and Nicholas and has written letters as therapy to help with her stories and to also help her get over her infatuation with Nicholas.
Will these two friends, unlikely lovers come together in the end or will he marry another?
I gave this novella a 4.25 of 5.0 star rating for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 3.0 of 5.0 flames.
There are a couple of scenes with heated kisses and one rather hot sexual encounter which is quite a lot for this short read.
I read this book through the kindle unlimited program. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I voluntarily reviewed.
Looking Forward to Book #2
Julia and the Duke
Coming August 9, 2017
PRE-ORDER NOW AT:
“One of them might now be a viscountess but it does not clear the taint of scandal from those frightful Chadwick girls. Why we must deign to entertain them, I will never know!” Lady Bromsley, Countess of Marlbury.
A new duke moving into their sleepy village doesn’t interest Julia, especially when she hears all about his scandalous behavior in London. Rumors of gambling debts, illicit liaisons, and pub brawls surround the far-too-handsome Duke of Weston.
The far-too-handsome duke who happens to want to build a mill on her favorite nature spot, meaning Julia’s beloved otters will be homeless.
No matter what she says, the stubborn man will not back down, but this bluestocking will not give up easily. With the help of her sisters, she must find a way to persuade him to make money another way.
If only the far-too-handsome duke did not seem to enjoy riling her so much. If only he would not insist on getting under her skin and pretending to be interested in her. All this talk of liking redheads and freckles will not make her forget those animals in need.
If you love fun, sensual Regency romance with memorable characters, you can’t miss out on this new Samantha Holt series.

Henrietta Morton knows well to look the other way when the free trading ‘gentlemen’ are at work. Yet when a notorious pirate, known as The Rogue, bursts in on her in the village shop, she takes things one step further.
Bewitched by a pair of wicked blue eyes, in a moment of insanity she hides the handsome fugitive from the local Militia. Her reward is a kiss that she just cannot forget. But in his haste to escape with his life, her pirate drops a letter, inadvertently giving Henri incriminating information about the man she just helped free.
When her father gives her hand in marriage to a wealthy and villainous nobleman in return for the payment of his debts, Henri becomes desperate.
Blackmailing a pirate may be her only hope for freedom.

~”Your book is beautiful, Katy. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and sexy. I love the writing. I love the characters. You have me sighing like a damn teenager.” – Leylah Attar, New York Times bestselling author of The Paper Swan
From New York Times bestseller Katy Regnery comes a new twist on a beloved fairytale.
A fisherman’s daughter.
The governor’s son.
Two very different worlds.
In this modern retelling of The Little Mermaid, a fisherman’s daughter from an Outer Banks island untouched by time, meets the son of North Carolina’s governor at a fancy party where she’s working.
Laire, who wants so much more from life than her little island can offer, is swept away by wealthy, sophisticated Erik, who is, in turn, entranced by her naiveté and charm. The two spend a whirlwind summer together that ends on the knife-point of heartbreak and forces them to go their separate ways.
Years later, when fate leads them back to one another, they will discover the terrifying depth of the secrets they kept from each other, and learn that shattered hearts can only be healed by a love that willfully refuses to die.
**Contemporary Romance. Due to profanity, adult themes and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.**

GET READY FOR SNOW!
Seems like The Final Chapter bookstore is the place to be this Christmas. As the snow piles up, customers are hooking up left and right just in time for a little holiday cheer. Does this reporter’s heart good to see it.
❄ ❆ ❄
Havenport’s favorite romantic comedy author said I’ll Be Home for Christmas and she’s made good on her word. Despite some rather nasty reviews on her new book, she’ll be at The Final Chapter signing alongside the thriller writer we’ve all been drooling over lately. These two have been heating up the web with their rivalry and I can’t wait to see the sparks fly in person. Something tells me our gal’s in for a bit of a shock when she realizes the handsome hunk she was seen flirting with is actually her arch nemesis.
❄ ❆ ❄
It’s with a sad heart that I announce The Final Chapter bookstore will soon be closing its doors. But maybe there’s still hope? The owner’s niece seems to be at a crossroads and has shown interest in taking over the store. Lets hope the strong, silent-type newcomer she’s been seen cozying up to on the beach can convince her to take a chance and make a new life in this Winter Wonderland we call home.
❄ ❆ ❄
Our Havenport Elementary School art teacher shocked the ladies at The Final Chapter book signing by reading a spell to “bring forth true love.” Is it a coincidence a hottie dressed like a nineteenth century sailor showed up that same night? He may be giving her a bit of a cold shoulder now, but let’s hope he warms up soon, because Baby, It’s Cold Outside. (And just in case that spell really worked, I need a copy of that book, please.)
❄ ❆ ❄
Please tell me someone snapped a picture of that little Scottish Terror, uh Terrier, we all know and avoid peeing on Havenport’s car repairman extraordinaire. (Email all pics to Candy Apples via The Havenport Herald). I’ll grant the former Marine had a right to be peeved, but my inside scoop says the dog’s walker has a lot on her mind these days. She’s a prosecutor hiding out at her sister’s after suffering a brutal attack, and she’s not out of danger yet. Thankfully, our Marine doesn’t hold grudges, and has been seen doing a bit of reconnaissance over at Wags & Walks. Here’s to hoping these two end up spending this White Christmas together.
❄ ❆ ❄
We’ve got quite a storm heading our way, but I have a feeling no one’s going to mind being snowed in.
Stay safe and warm everyone, and Merry Christmas!
