My Recent Release Review of

The Misfortune of Lady Lucianna

The Undaunted Debutantes Book 2

by Christina McKnight

$2.99 in Digital Format at:

Publisher’s Description:

Quick-witted hellion Lucianna Constantine has no doubt who was responsible for the death of her dear friend. And she will stop at nothing to expose his transgressions—and those of every despicable man in London. Lucianna has witnessed the cruelty of London’s beau monde her entire life…starting with her own father. So she is more than willing to singlehandedly take down every vile man that crosses her path.

Roderick Crofton, the Duke of Montrose, had his entire family fortune stolen when his father trusted the wrong men. After a scandalous article surfaces in the London Daily Gazette, written by the notorious Mayfair Confidential columnist, Roderick finds himself financially destitute, without a betrothed, and lacking the means to find the lords responsible for duping his sire. With little option left, Roderick has only one choice: find another wealthy heiress to wed. His quest brings him to Lady Lucianna Constantine, and soon, he can’t deny that he wants her for more than just her dowry.

However, Luci has secrets that could change everything. And when Roderick uncovers what those confidences entail, it could mean misfortune for all involved.

My Thoughts:

This is book #2 of this new series and every bit as good as book #1.

Lucianna actually witnessed the death of her friend. With the aid of her friends Edith and Ophelia she means to bring that man to justice. Now her father intends to marry her off to the same man who is responsible for her friend’s death.
In the mean time these three friends intend to bring down every scoundrel in London with their anonymous Mayfair Confidential articles in the London Gazette.

Roderick Crofton, the Duke of Montrose’ father had lost the family’s fortune to unscrupulous characters. He now needs to put the family’s accounts to rights by marrying a wealthy heiress.
A mistaken article written by these three has ruined his chances with his betrothed. Now he need a new solution to his problem.

Can these two adversaries make a match that will save them both?

This book is filled with bits of mystery, mayhem and love. I gave it 4.5 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read from the author via Bookfunnel. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

A Re-Cap of My Review

Roger’s Bride

Sir Arthur’s Legacy Book #4

by Sarah Hegger

Currently $0.99 in Digital Format at:

A battle of wills . . .

As the oldest son and heir to Anglesea, it is Roger’s duty to stand tall and strong. But his tough exterior belies the heart of a true romantic, a devoted son who yearns for the deep love he has witnessed between his parents and his sisters and their husbands. However, with the Anglesea family jockeying for a more advantageous position, Roger must marry judiciously.

A fight for the heart . . .

Having spent her childhood watching her mother suffer, Kathryn of Mandeville is determined never to marry. To be as a Viking shield maiden of old is her heart’s only desire. But when her sister Matty runs away to escape Roger’s sensible proposal, Kathryn is forced to help Roger find a more suitable bride. Bound by duty, Roger and Kathryn soon discover they are facing a much tougher fight—the one that is within their hearts . . .

This is book #4 of this series but the first one I have read. It is also the first book I have ever read by this author but I hope to read more in the future. I really enjoyed reading this humorous and heartwarming tale. Although it was not an uncommon practice in the times which this story is situated, I did found Kathryn’s father’s abusive nature to be rather alarming. The routine beatings suffered by both Kathryn and her mother at the hands of a man who I felt should have been nurturing made me want to strangle said abuser.

Overall I found the storyline and characters to be well developed and engaging. Reading this book made me wish I had read previous offerings by this author.

I gave this book a 4.5 of 5 star rating for characterization and storyline and

3 flame of 5 for heat.

I would most assuredly look for future offerings by this author.

If you like your historical romance with more humor than torrid love scenes then be sure to grab yourself a copy of Roger’s Bride.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the author and publisher to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion o0f this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Releasing Henry

Sir Arthur’s Legacy Book #5

by Sarah Hegger

About The Author:

Sarah_HeggerBorn British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.

Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.

She currently lives in Colorado with her teenage daughters, two Golden Retrievers and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books.

Sarah is the recipient of the 2015 EPIC Award for Historical Romance.

She is represented my Nalini Akolekar of Spencerhill Associates.

Of course if you’d like to be the first to get the news, the giveaways and listen to a stream of irrelevant prattle from me, you could always sign up for my Facebook street team: The Sarah Hegger Collective.

Following a chat I had with a reader at RT, she said to me she makes it a point to read two new-to-her authors a year. Now, you’re all well aware of how many new authors there are out there.
