MY NEW RELEASE REVIEW of

Beauty of the Beast

67a95f9d-fdd9-4a43-9eac-caf79eb0497e

Fairy Tale Retellings, Book One

by Rachel L. Demete

Publisher’s Description:

Experience the world’s most enchanting and timeless love story—retold with a dark and realistic twist.

A BEAST LIVING IN THE SHADOW OF HIS PAST

Reclusive and severely scarred Prince Adam Delacroix has remained hidden inside a secluded, decrepit castle ever since he witnessed his family’s brutal massacre. Cloaked in shadow, with only the lamentations of past ghosts for company, he has abandoned all hope, allowing the world to believe he died on that tragic eve twenty-five years ago.

A BEAUTY IN PURSUIT OF A BETTER FUTURE

Caught in a fierce snowstorm, beautiful and strong-willed Isabelle Rose seeks shelter at a castle—unaware that its beastly and disfigured master is much more than he appears to be. When he imprisons her gravely ill and blind father, she bravely offers herself in his place.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Stripped of his emotional defenses, Adam’s humanity reawakens as he encounters a kindred soul in Isabelle. Together they will wade through darkness and discover beauty and passion in the most unlikely of places. But when a monster from Isabelle’s former life threatens their new love, Demrov’s forgotten prince must emerge from his shadows and face the world once more…

Perfect for fans of Beauty and the Beast and The Phantom of the Opera, Beauty of the Beast brings a familiar and well-loved fairy tale to life with a rich setting in the kingdom of Demrov and a captivating, Gothic voice.

Beauty of the Beast is the first standalone installment in a series of classic fairy tales reimagined with a dark and realistic twist.

Disclaimer:

This is an edgy, historical romance retelling of the classic fairy tale. Due to strong sexual content, profanity, and dark subject matter, including an instance of sexual assault committed by the villain, Beauty of the Beast is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My Thoughts:

I loved reading this retelling of Beauty and the Beast especially with the nationwide release of the Disney Action Movie of this tale.

This is of course a more adult version than the Disney one. There is violence and a deeply sensual nature to this story. It is very well written even though there is sexual violence as well as violence of the usual nature.

Adam is a prince who was the only survivor when the people revolted and killed his parents and his baby sister. The violent nature of his parents deaths and the memory of his baby sister burning to death haunt him. He was scared while trying to save his sister. His scars make him viewed as a beast and he is reclusive because of this.

Isabelle is the daughter of a merchant who is ill, nearly blind and most likely dying. In order to keep her family fed she has betrothed herself to the cruel Vicomte Dumont.
When her father decides he wishes to travel to the annual Merchants Fair she decides she must look to her betrothed for the means to travel there.
This is how she ends up with the reclusive and scared prince. It also culminates in the death of her father.

Can these two so different people find happiness together? Will they have their Happily Ever After?

This retelling of this classic French fairytale is very well written and told with the spin of an adult natured book.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this retelling of a longtime favorite. It is of course more realistic in nature than the childhood fairytale.
The characters are well developed and the storyline excellent.

I gave this dark retelling 4.75 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 4 of 5 flames.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book and I have voluntarily left my review.

Sweet Royal Beginnings

A Royal Vow Novel Book 1

by Lizabeth Scott

Digital List Price: $2.99

FREE For a Limited Time at:

Amazon ~ B&N

Publisher’s Description:

517g1XlKguLAbandoned at birth, Jane Smith didn’t have much experience with the elusive emotion of love. Frankly, she didn’t even believe that any such emotion existed. After all, she had gotten along just fine all on her own for twenty some years. She certainly didn’t need some obnoxious, over inflated, egotistical man coming into her world and turning it upside down.
“Mike,” thought entirely too highly of himself, and Jane was one woman that would not fall at his feet just because he was a prince (and probably the most handsome man she had ever seen in her life). His strong broad shoulders and dark brown hair or his midnight blue eyes did nothing for her, nor did his whiskey-smooth accent send messages of warning to her female parts.
But most of all, Jane Smith was a big ole liar.
Prince Mikal SuMartra had no idea why the small blonde on stage attracted him. Her figure was quite slim, which made other parts of her full lush body all the more tempting. The conflicting glimpses from the saucy siren with blushing innocence intrigued him. The way she reacted to his touch, he knew that a night in her arms would be pleasure-filled for both of them.
Her blatant refusal only made him more determined than ever to have her. Mikal couldn’t wait to peel away the many faces of Jane to uncover the true jewel beneath.
This over 15 thousand word novella is the complete story of Jane and Mikal as they struggle to find their way to the beginning of their happy ever after.
