Travel through the English countryside in this third delightful historical Regency romance in the Governesses series by award-winning author Julia Kelly!
When Lady Margaret Rawson is caught trying to elope with the thoroughly unsuitable James Lawrence, Lord and Lady Rawson decide it’s time to send their daughter away from the temptations of London. The job of delivering the headstrong girl to the family’s isolated Yorkshire estate naturally falls to her governess, Jane Ephram. It should be an easy task, but with the wild Lady Margaret, nothing ever goes according to plan. To make matters worse, Lord Rawson has made it clear that if anything happens to his daughter along the way, Jane will be dismissed without a letter of reference. When Jane finds Lady Margaret’s inn room empty and the charming Sir Nicholas Hollings’s horse missing one morning, she must embark on an adventure of her own with the devilishly handsome baron. Will Jane and Nicholas find Lady Margaret, the scheming Mr. Lawrence, and the missing horse, or will they discover something else entirely?
I always enjoy the HEA endings in romance novels and novellas. Although this is a short read it is well developed and could be read as a standalone, but is so much better for the reader if they have read the first two books in this series. You would have previously met some of the characters in books 1 & 2 so if you have read those you know about the friendship between the three women. Two were and one is still a governess. and that is how their friendship began.
I truly loved the characters and the stories behind them. I found the storylines in all three books to be well developed and gave each one a 4 star or better rating.
This one in my opinion deserves 4.25 stars. I hate to see the ending of this short series. Although there are 3 books they are all short reads.(novellas).
This one has only one heated scene so I would give it 3 of 5 flames for heat.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this title to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this book.

Marrying Owen by Alexis Anne
Bringing your boyfriend home to meet your parents at Christmas is a difficult tradition no one looks forward to, but bringing home Owen Jones, lead singer of the triple platinum rock band Jettison Seven, is extra complicated for Alice’s conservative family. Which means a week over the holidays will be the test of whether their relationship is the stuff of legend, or of grocery store gossip magazines.
Simply Having by Audra North
Astrid Faber isn’t expecting any miracles this Christmas. With her parents gone, she’s never felt as alone as she does this holiday season. But when she finds herself struggling to get her lonely little Christmas tree up the stairs into her apartment, her elusive hot neighbor, Simon James, appears just in time to help lift the tree—and her spirits. But can Simon ease her heart long enough for Astrid to allow herself to simply have a wonderful Christmas?
Kiss Me at Midnight by Julia Kelly
Allina Hemphill’s been (unsuccessfully) set up by her parents too many times, but when her mother’s scheming puts Blane Douglas in her sights on Christmas Eve, she finds she’s more than happy to steal a kiss under the mistletoe.
This Christmas by Alexandra Haughton
This Christmas, Maggie Embry feels like a misfit toy. When her parents announced their divorce over Thanksgiving leftovers, it rocked the foundation of her life—even though she’s almost thirty, not six. By refusing to take sides, she finds herself with nowhere to go for the holidays. Which is fine by her because the magic of the season has lost its sparkle.
Reluctantly, Maggie agrees to join her best friend’s little family celebration—it’s better than spending Christmas alone. But when their party grows by an unexpected number at the candlelight Christmas Eve service, it’s a blast from the past who just might be able to help her find her missing pieces…

Melinda Sweet loved her husband before she learned of his wealth and she loves him still, despite the fact that it’s gone. Unfortunately, while she knows the collapse of his Chicago financial services business had nothing to do with him, he believes otherwise. His upbeat adjustment to their new – and temporary – life on his grandfather’s rundown honey farm is a foil to cover the burden of failure. She wasn’t expecting to throw – in five weeks – the traditional Sweet Christmas Open House, but it’s a good earning opportunity and how hard could it be?
Austin Sweet is determined to make his wife proud of him again. But he also wants to erase the sting of shame he feels from his parents, to whom he owes a debt of gratitude for arranging for this caretaking job. Getting paid to fix up this disaster is better than living in their basement, sure. But what does he know about bees? Or fixing broken plumbing? Or cleaning a chimney?
But when Austin’s grandfather gives him the farm as a Christmas gift, there’s only one response. Accepting the gift will secure a future that will make his wife even more unhappy than he already is. Refusing the gift will finalize the rift between him and his family, but he’d rather lose them than Melinda. Then he discovers she’s spared him the choice. Austin’s not-so-Sweet side rears up as he determines that he’s done trying to make everyone happy. He’ll get his wife back, no matter what. And they’ll decide their future together.

Every woman that he’s ever loved has fallen under his curse.
The princess he desires may be the next victim of the marquess’ curse.
The second son of Lord Fairfield, William David Montgomery, has just experienced one of the greatest tragedies of his young life. His wife, who he confesses that he did not love as he should, has just died suddenly, leaving him alone to battle the demons of guilt and regret that haunt him. If he’d been the husband he should have been, perhaps she would not have succumbed to her weak heart.
To escape the past, he decides to leave for America and begin establishing business ventures there, but on the way he meets a beautiful princess also seeking respite from daily life. Belle Van Den Berg, Princess of Netherlands, has captured his thoughts in a way that he’s not experienced since Abigail, the mother of his illegitimate child, or since the beginning days of his married life. However, she is as innocent and pure as he is tarnished, and he knows that there’s no room for him in her loving heart.
Everything changes in an instant when Princess Belle falls into an unexplained coma suddenly, although they are at sea on a small ship with only a handful of passengers and a skeleton crew. Lord William begins to wonder if it is because of her frail constitution or if the sudden onset is deliberate…perhaps a case of poisoning. He must discover the truth before it’s too late for beautiful Belle…
Can Lord William find the culprit—and an antidote or cure—before his heart is broken by another untimely death?
Will Princess Belle find room in her heart for her wayward knight in shining armor?
This is a clean historical regency romance novel.
