NEVER SEND A DEBUTANTE
William Ryder, Earl of Castleton, is at the end of his noble rope. Not only has he broken ties with his longtime mistress, his mother has publicly announced her wish for him to marry a suitable young lady—if only to help him raise the twins left in his care. Hiring a governess should solve some of Will’s problems…but when he meets the candidate in question, he finds himself in an entirely new predicament.
TO DO A WALLFLOWER’S JOB
Miss Margaret Lacey is brainy, beautiful, and, once upon a time, Will’s betrothed. But she bowed out of the engagement—and, since then, has never been the same. A tragic accident robbed her of everything, and now, at age twenty-three, her marital prospects are slim to none. Penniless but not without pride, Meg convinces the vexingly handsome Will to hire her for the job. What neither of them could have expected from this arrangement, however, is an attraction that burns stronger than ever. Are these two lost souls finally ready to be schooled in the art of love?

Unlikely lovers find passion under the Christmas mistletoe in this duet of Regency tales from an award-winning romance author.
In “The Girl with Airs,” Lord Dunvegan—Laird Geordie to his friends—attempts to persuade bluestocking Caroline Woolcott to give his besotted, tongue-tied friend Sir Archibald Halford a chance to win her hand in marriage.
A Scotsman banished to England to cultivate a more genteel manner, Geordie has yet to meet a female who tempts him to settle down. It certainly isn’t the headstrong lass who wants nothing to do with Archie—or Geordie. But then Geordie’s father decides the standoffish Caroline would make an ideal bride for his wayward son, and a sizzling kiss in the doorway of a grand Lancashire estate turns two warring hearts to love . . .
In “A Sneeze on Tuesday,” Elinor Selby succumbs to the worst cold she’s ever known five days before Christmas, and her entire future takes a catastrophic turn.
After an absence of five years, Elinor’s betrothed, Julian Henshaw, Lord Lovebourne, is due home any day. Were it not for her quick-thinking, curmudgeonly neighbor, Miles Endicott, on whom she’s relied since childhood, she might not be able to cope with the momentous reunion. But then an unexpected series of events forces Elinor and Miles to take part in a scandalous deception that will ignite a firestorm of longing and love.
Elizabeth Mansfield’s pair of irresistible holiday romances features men and women who discover love they didn’t know they were missing.
I had not previously read this author’s work and found this pair of sweet holiday romances delightful.
It is getting close to the time of year that I usually yearn for a good holiday romance. It is still a little early but I loved these two short Christmas reads.
Overall I would give this collection 4.25 stars for content, characters and story lines.
The heat level is 1 star. These are not your average heat filled romantic tales. They are sweet enough so that you would have no qualms about your teen family members reading them.

MY REVIEW of
A Christmas Kiss
by Elizabeth Mansfield
During the holiday season, a governess loses her heart to an earl with no intention of marrying again, in this Cinderella story set in Regency England.
After defending her virtue by striking the besotted son of her employer, Miss Evalyn Pennington is discharged from her position under a cloud of scandal. With no place to go and no prospects for the coming year, the impoverished governess accepts an invitation from Jamie Everard, heir to an earldom, to spend the holidays at his family’s estate. But Evalyn has barely settled in at Gyllford Manor when she catches the eye of Philip Everard, the fourth Earl of Gyllford—and Jamie’s father.
After his wife died, Philip vowed to never marry again, despite his sister’s best efforts to reintroduce him to London society. Then, his son brings a guest home for Christmas. Is the lovely, intelligent Evalyn the woman to make his footloose son settle down at last? But why does Jamie treat Evalyn in such a cavalier manner? And what is Philip to do about the reigning beauty of London who has set her cap for him—and is about to set in motion a scheme that will have far-reaching consequences for them all?
A witty and warm tale about morals, mores, marriage, and mistaken intentions, this classic Regency holiday romance introduces a woman who refuses to surrender her ideals, and a man in danger of losing the one thing he swore never again to give: his heart.
This is a well written, sometimes funny, sweet holiday romance. I was sorry to discover that this e-book publication of this book was after the author’s lifetime. I understand that her daughter as she sorts through her mother’s papers and books is sending more for publication.
This somewhat convoluted tale takes us on a merry chase and ends with our expected HEA. It is a tale that takes a misunderstanding of facts to an unexpected conclusion of sorts.
I thought the story and characters were well developed and would give this wonderful holiday tale a 4.5 star rating.
I received a digital ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
