The Sweetest Sin
The Sins & Scandals Series Book 7

THE SWEETEST SIN
When the only thing you have left to lose is your heart…
Fate has not been kind to Lady Henrietta Harrow. Exiled to the country after a fire killed her parents and left her scarred, Hen’s brother has brought her to London to find a husband and a happy life. Unfortunately, Hen’s scars make her a target for stares and whispers and one lady in particular—Lady Susan St. John—is determined to ruin Hen in retaliation for a believed transgression. Lady Susan’s threats force Hen to make a bold move—she proposes to the very proper Lord Walkerton.
Experience has taught the widowed Alexander St. John, Marquess of Rothbury and future Duke of Franklyn that love equals loss. But as the only remaining male heir in the St. John line, Alex must remarry. He needs not only a son but also a woman to curb his daughter’s unruly behavior. This time, however, his marriage will be a business transaction, nothing more. After his first wife’s betrayal, love has no place in his world.
When Alex returns to London, his intentions of finding a marriage of convenience are tested as Hen arouses his passions in ways he never imagined possible. As cracks show in Alex’s hard façade, Hen realizes a good man still exists beneath the debris of loss. Soon, Hen and Alex are overcome by desire, but Hen’s proposal to another man and old secrets from the past impede any future happiness. Can Hen and Alex conquer these destructive threats, or will they forever ruin their chance at happiness?
This is book 7 of the Sins & Scandals Series and the second one I have read for review. Where I found “A Sinner No More” mild and uninspiring, this book intrigued me as a lover of historical romance and historical fiction. Although the setting is Victorian England and the details of the time leave a lot to be desired, this is still a very easy and engrossing read.
Our hero is flawed and our heroine is scarred. There is a 7 year old who needs the attention of a father who is not her blood relative and he therefore neglects her until the heroine brings them together.
The characters in this book are very well developed and the reader is drawn into their lives.
I would give this book a 4.5 star rating and although it is book #7 of the series it could be read as a standalone, but I feel the background characters would be better understood if you had read some or all of the previous books in the series.
“I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.”

Sumner Meador walked in a world of wealth and privilege as part of Charles Town’s elite, but that was years ago. Now he fights in the Southern backwoods driven by the passion he holds for the Patriot cause, shadowed by his past. Reeling from a devastating defeat at the hands of the British, Sumner seeks haven at his farm, only to find an interloper–an unwelcome and unwanted distraction. He has no time for the young woman or the complications she brings with her, but soon discovers he has no option but to give aid to the stubborn, courageous beauty whether she wants it or not.
Jane Kilmer has been violently thrust into the midst of the civil war ensuing in the backwoods. Hiding from one of the most dangerous vigilantes, Jane trusts no one. Suddenly, she has no choice but to put her life in Sumner’s hands. Both desire revenge, but neither wants what happens–to fall completely, undeniably in love with each other. As the war rages around them, their love is put to the ultimate test. The question becomes not whether their love will survive, but will they.

Captured, taken from her beloved family and woods, Aria’s biggest fear is not the imminent death facing her, but that she will be chosen as a blood slave for a member of the ruling vampire race. No matter what becomes of her though, Aria knows that she must keep her identity hidden from the monsters imprisoning her. She has already been branded a member of the rebellion, but the vampires do not know the true depth of her involvement with it, and they must never know. Though hoping for death, Aria’s world is turned upside down when a vampire named Braith steps forward to claim her. He delays her execution, but Aria knows it’s only a matter of time before he drains her, and destroys her. Especially once she learns his true identity as a prince within the royal family; the same royal family that started the war that ultimately brought down humankind, reducing them to nothing more than servants and slaves. Aria is determined to hate the prince, determined not to give into him in anyway, but his strange kindness, and surprising gentleness astonish her. Torn between her loyalties to the rebellion, and her growing love for her greatest enemy, Aria struggles to decide between everything she has ever known, and a love she never dreamed of finding.
